Default Lineal world champs today

Withthe whole alphabet soup and some top fighters not fighting themselves it's hard to fill vacanies in some divisions and there is some cunfusion even in the hardcore boxing world on the real rankings.

I'm sure there will be some debate here aswell but can we trace a lineage on all the divisions that we can?

For a while The Ring champion was almost universally recognized as the champion but with their new championship rules the standards might not be enough t owarrant that status.

So Martinez is the MW champion without question. For instance do you consider Danny Garcia the junior welterweight champion of the world? How about the heavyweight mess?
What say you?

Neither Wlad or Vitali is 'The' lineal Heavyweight champion. Post Lewis there has never been enough agreement to establish a new line.

I agree.

Altough I think there was a short period post Lewis in which Vitali was the champ when he beat Sanders.

Ward at super middleweight is nailed on the best fighter in the division.

Agreed, there isn't that many which are nailed on in the higher divisions, don't watch enough of the lower divisions to know.

Personally I considered Vitali beating Sanders to be the clash of the tow leading contenders at the time. Thus Vitali was the champ. I think when Vitali retired Wlad beat Sam Peter - again top two contenders so there is an argument for either. I lean slightly toward Wlad- he's being more active and is the better fighter. He also won the first significant fight between top contenders on Vitali's retirement.

Doesnt really matter who the best fighter in the division is- Shannon Briggs was linear champ while Bowe, Holyfield, Tyson, Lewis was about.

Nah,Wlad and Peter when they fought the first time where nowhere near the universal recognized top 2 contenders.Byrd was pretty much rated no 1 with Rahman,Toney and Ruiz up there aswell.
With Vitali coming back Wlad does not have a real claim.
