Interesting. 1 in 1000 is still fairly high i'd say, especially in a sport like boxing where he's likely to take multiple heavy shots, not comparable to amateur i'd say. I'm no medical expert though.
If hes ok, id like to see him fight though, he could be decent imo |

1 in 1000 but do those odds go down every time he takes a punch i know if i was a relative i would not want him to box

Consideration can't just be given to Iain Weaver but also every opponent who steps into the ring with him....They would likely be thinking that one shot could kill him, nobody should be put in that situation.

Weaver has had issues with his brain scans, if something were to go wrong he could pay with his life. He may not have had issues in his amateur career but who knows what could happen when he receives more damaging punches from smaller gloves without a headguard. Like you say 1 in 1000 aren't that wide odds if he's fighting and getting hit on the head regularly. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] |

Agree with what everyone else says, it is harsh on the lad because like most boxers it probably is his whole life, but its better to have a life outside of boxing than have something damaging happen in the ring.

I think they are probably right not to licence him. If you think about it from the BBBC's perspective. They have been told he has a cyst on the brain and there is a small chance it could cause an injury/death. Having known that information and he did suffer an accident in the ring they would come under massive scrutiny. Probably both legally and as a professional body.
Its tough for Weaver admittedly but it happens in all levels of sport. |
