BILLY Treacy, the man behind Daniel Geale, is not the only man to escape twice from Parramatta Jail, he's just one of the more enthusiastic. The first time he was being offloaded from a prison van, which in those days happened in front of the prison. All that was required to find freedom were the skills suited to the kind of environment that sent him inside in the first place. Rugged skills, if you will.

Treacy said Geale couldn't care less about his background. "Never," he said. "Not one day has he ever said to me 'Billy what about this, what about that?'
"He'll come and talk to me about the kids. It's always about sport, or about him and his kids, or him and his wife, what they should do.
"It's always about life in general."
Their lives are so different, but right now so perfect for each other. The fighter, his wife and the crook turned philanthropist.

The entourage is small, intimate and deliberate.
Two days ago Geale's rusted-on American promoter, Gary Shaw, was telling anybody who listened how he travelled with fighters around the world, often with entourages 20 deep. Manny Pacquiao has to feed more than 100 when his camp hits town.
Geale takes just his brother Joe, Shaw, two sparring partners and trainer Graham Shaw.

Mundine tried to hijack Geale's heritage when this fight was announced, questioning his Aboriginality. Presenting himself as his people's representative.
It is self-proclaimed.
The bitterness for Mundine is his talk alienates the nation more than it unites it and Geale is emerging as the true example of what can be achieved. Geale said nothing but remains quietly angry.
