But he has a rock solid chin though, the Mercer fight and the Klitschko fight proves that.. Tua never really hit him Mike Never really hit him Golota froze and got blitzed out of there, Morrison was another fight he did take shots in and took them well. |

Id say his chin was good, he fought and beat some pretty big punchers in his time, but no matter which way you dress it up he was stopped twice. He can only blame himself for the Rahman loss, his preperation was appaling and got stopped by a punch he would usually take. Against McCall i think he should have been allowed to continue, if that meant getting stopped 30 seconds later so be it, its a champions right to go out on their shield.

Lewis's "glass jaw" is one of those persistent but easily disprovable myths in boxing that tends never to go away, much like Shavers's one punch power or Ali's two minute rest vs Cooper.
Simply put, anyone who gets in the ring with the likes of Tyson, Tua, Vit Klit, Golota, Evander, Bruno, Briggs, Mercer, Mason, Morrison, Rahman, Ruddock, and McCall and is only knocked down twice in all that time has a pretty damn good beard. Either that or they're Niccolino Locche incarnate. Lewis got hit, that isn't up for debate. But the only times he was dropped it was from huge punchers that hit him flush on the jaw. The only times he was rocked it was from huge punchers who hit him flush on the jaw. See a pattern emerging here? Lewis only ever got hurt against guys who could bang, and in the heavyweight division that can make all the difference between a win and a knockout loss. Herbie Hide had a glass jaw. Lewis did not. |
