Default where to stare?

today during training they had us with a partner practicing blocking jabs and and jab, cross, jab and simple stuff like that but I was confused at where I should be staring. it felt kinda weird looking him in the eyes because we were just practicing so I tried staring at his gloves and that was also weird. Where should I be looking whend doing these drills?....sorry if this question is stupid

I stare at just above the solar plexus area so I can see the feet as well as the hands and I don't focus on the gloves because there are two of them so that wouldn't work.

It doesn't matter man...the main thing is to keep your eyes open and up, as long as you are looking at their chest or higher it doesn't matter...just gotta be able to see those punches.

Center chest or chin are the best areas. You can easily see shoulder movements which indicate when and what your opponent will throw, especially hooks.

When you are driving on the highway, if you focus on one car, the one's your aren't watching will mess you up. You have to see them all and be aware of everything around you.

Movement is mainly detected by peripheral vision so don't look at anything in particular, when you're relaxed you have less tunnel vision so you can see the bigger picture more easily. Relax and you'll be able to see everything, if you focus on one thing you're missing everything else.

There is no right or wrong answer for this, you'll have to work it out for yourself.
Try staring at chest, shoulders, eyes, whatever and see what you feel works best for you.
