If people are basing opinions on Darchinyan vs. Del Valle they should

a) watch other recent Darchinyan performances

and

b) recognize that Rigondeaux >>> Del Valle.

Stick a fork in Vic. He can't hang with elites anymore.

Not as dangerous as Kazuto Ioka (plus he has 11 fights not less than 10- like Ioka).

And who's to say he would've beaten Poon. He struggled to an SD and got booed out of the building against Cordoba who's not as good as Poon.

But he fought the best fights offered

Surely he was offered better fighters than Teon Kennedy (hadn't won in 2 fights prior to his fight with Rigo) and Marroquin (lost the year prior to a guy at 17-5-3) and Cassey (not done fuck all) for 'world title' fights.

How long ago was the Perez fight he looked good in that, and the fight prior he hung with Mares too. Better performances than Rigondeaux's best win vs Cordoba imo.

Maybe against Moreno and Yamanaka he was struggling to make weight.

Fine, second best in boxing then.

That's what's so impressive, he signed on for a risky fight at a months notice. So why are you repeatedly questioning his willingness?

And no, he probably wasn't offered better fights in those slots. Please provide links if you know otherwise.

Quite a long fucking time, for a guy pushing 40 in the lower weight divisions.

46 rounds of additional wear on his aging body ago.

Eh. Life and death struggle, and it was only Mares' 2nd real step up in class. Mares takes him in a rematch much more comfortably any time since.

Oh STFU with the excuses.

He looked old, slow, confused, and uneasy pulling the trigger against Mbamba (did you forget about that?), Moreno, and Yamanaka.

He summoned the old magic one last time against LODV. That's it. Last huzzah. It isn't like LODV is some top 5 super bantam, either. So let's not pretend "Oh, Vic struggled against top bantams but is magically rejuvenated against top super bantams"...

I don't question his willingness I question the judgement of people who say Donaire is ducking him which is akin to saying Mayweather is ducking Keith Thurman- a fight Thurman has done nothing to deserve either.

I'm not just blaming Rigo, Arum plays some part in it as well and I believe as a champion you shouldn't be facing the like of Keenedy and Marroquin in comparison to Donaire's opponents last year Vazquez, Mathebula, Nishioka and Arce.

Yet it's Donaire who's avoiding elite fighters

big difference. NO ONE is demanding a Thurman-Mayweather fight. u can say what u want about Rigo but the fact of the matter is most fans view him as the second best fighter in the division, if not the best.

Keith Thurman is: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I remember a guy last year too who looked good against lower level fighters people thought was the second best or first best in the division then he steps up and, can't remember what happened to him though. Help me out if you will....

I'm with you on that. But if they can't make Mares, that's still the best fight for him at 122. I don't think he loses. I know he's insecure as hell, but can't imagine he's ducking Rigo. So he should just quit whining and get on with it.

I think he's more worried about the fight resembling the Navarez one- Rigo being in his shell all night and the fight being a stinker.

Let's be honest the people Donaire has fought who wasn't scared of his power, they should have been

And Rigondeaux seemed unwilling to engage in anything with Cordoba for the last 6 rounds or so (after he got dropped) so imagine what he'd be like against someone with a hell of a lot more power

But Thruman is not WBA undefeated champion..two times Olympic gold medallist and ranked # 1 in Mayweather weight class..

He's the undefeated WBO NABO light middleweight champion which means about as much as any belt held in the Super Batamweight division by anyone not named Donaire

Audley Harrison and Anthony Joshua won Gold Medals but doesn't mean they should face Wlad

And ranked number 1 by who? I ranked Mares way above him as he's beaten an elite fighter in Moreno which Rigo has not yet.

And where is Cordoba in that equation?

It's a real possibility, probably the most likely outcome. But this fight has more demand than Narvaez, so at least he can say "I told you so" after he wins a belt in a boring decision.
