Reading that it becomes very clear why there was actually no such thing as Mayweather Promotions and it was just a name Floyd threw out there to look like he was doing something.
Floyd new it was futile so didn't bother. |

At first I thought it was interesting to see what he would bring to the table as a promotor but gamboa's ring entrance was cringe worthy and I realized he cares more about self promotion than that of his fighters.

I thought the combination of Mayweather, 50 and Al Haymon could make a formidable promotion company. The celebrity and charisma of 50 combines with Floyd's boxing status and the business genius in Haymon would create a strong promotion company.
A lot of fighters came out and really wanted to be on board with it from Bert, Lundy, Judah, rumors of Kirkland, and I forgot who else. But then Floyd started screwing around and dragging his feet, and 50 tried to make Floyd leave Haymon and his ego started shining through more. All I can say is I feel bad for Dirrell and Gamboa |

Dirrell had a chance to fight Ward for the SMW title but declined. Gamboa I feel sorry for because he was stitched up by Bob Arum, but at the same time he's just been implicated in a drugs bust. |

At last something we can agree on.
I think Curtis overstepped though. In an interview he said before Floyd went in he asked him for "help with Mayweather Promotions". He said he knew exactly what that meant. I doubt it. Forming a new company and making himself a full partner is not what I would consider "Help with Mayweather Promotions". Curtis made assumptions and rolled with them way too fast and Floyd was right to step back. |

That's another reason I think Jackson overstepped his bounds in ass u me ing he knew what Floyd meant. Jackson dissed Floyd for 'not being his own man' and having someone else controlling his money and not enough other business interests. I think maybe Floyd wanted to build something for himself and was just asking a friend to help him do that.

If I'm a fighter, I want my promoter to be focused on boxing 100%.
50 cent has been more concered with promoting his headphones and album. Still time to turn things around as its just begun, but off to a bad start IMO. |
