I was actually going to put ALL of my sportsbook money on Cigano over Alistair by KO, but now he'll probably be the big favourite, after what Bigfoot just done did'd

He can KO Cigano.. Just needs to show up with a fight plan.

He deserved to get knocked out, disrespected his opponent, showed his ass in doing that.. Then fought a dangerous guy without a gameplan.

I'm a big fan, but he needs to learn some humility. He will go far so long as he remembers he has a light heavy chin and sticks to fighting technical, walking his opponents down and chopping them up.. When he goes away from that, he's gonna lose.

I've had this argument with several people at several stages over the last 12 months or so.

Overeem is sucseptible to punches, "JUST BECAUSE HE IS A K1 KICK-BOXER DOESNT MAKE HIM AN ELITE STRIKER FOR MMA"

You know who you are people, maybe you will begin to understand the phrase "striking for MMA" as oppose to "striking"

Im delighted Overeem has been flattened at HW, its been way too long in coming.

This is why you have to love MMA and the speed it is evolving, when Big Foot started in MMA he couldnt even throw a jab properly, after 6 weeks of boxing training he was sparring David Price and was giving him something to think about (about 2007- now he's just flattened a "decorated striker"

Fantastic !!!

Striking is different in mma,big part of it are gloves,I do boxing, but try out yourself some mma gloves, feels much diferent even being hit with the gloves is a diferent kind of pain,a style like overeem like covering up with gloves to weather the storm is not very good in mma, rampage style is better.

I called this in another thread. And the result does not surprise me in the least. There's a few problems here. Firstly as usual fans buy into the hype. Secondly Reem bought into his own hype. And thirdly Reem has ALWAYS been a fragile fighter with a suspect chin and suspect cardio. Its clear as day he never tool Silva seriously. His bad physical conditioning was proof of that. There were very notable differences in his physique now that he's come off a few cycles and it told immensely. I doubt he trained as hard as he could for this fight and it definitely showed.
Either way steroids or not Reem will always have a bad chin. So when put in with monster heavys who can punch he's at a disadvantage already despite his K-1 creds, which in all honesty flatter him immensely.

His boxing defence is the issue imo. Rather than being on the juice or not.

He can get away with shit boxing defence in K1 because he can block a lot of shots with the massive gloves, which he obviously can't do in MMA.

I'm still in shock over Reem losing but he got exactly what he deserved he was arrogant, showed Big Foot no respect and like around 95% off MMA fans thought this was a formality.

Credit to Big Foot for the win and hopefully this might humble Reem a bit, To me It seems Reem believed his own hype a bit too much.

Gentlemen,

Its not all about blocking with gloves, its about mindset, its about identifying what you are striking for, are you point scoring with a jab, range finding with a jab, are you stepping in to cause damage? if so if you miss can you be taken down, are you looking for a TD off a strike, are you looking to land a kick off a strike? and then all of the above in reverse when thinking defensively!

Overeem has never been a great striker for MMA, as Scurla (very rare I'd give him credit but its a good point) has pointed out his cardio has always been the big question mark? this doesnt get mentioned enough, he's a one paced muscle bound fighter, if you push a pace on him you will find a gap! If you dont then be prepared to eat some pretty devastating strikes.

He is susceptible to punches, and I'm glad somebody has finally found the target, dos Santos would have flattened him and Velasquez would of grappled him to submission, I dont mean that literally!

Question is now, who does he fight next? throw the steroid cheating bastard to Cormier I say!

Honestly I dont know why people are calling reem a hype job? Hes had one of the longest careers of anyone active today, he is one of the greatest mma fighters of all time, noone else in mma could go to k1 and win a gp be it a shit one or not, just as no one in k1 has come over to mma and won any decent titles, although I think spong will do very well.

Reem clearly didnt train well for Silva, he wasnt focused and he got KO'd but to call him a hype job is completely ridiculous, if he is trained and focused for a fight he can still beat anyone in the world. I think moving to US was a mistake, in Holland he had less distractions and seem more focused, either way looks like the JDS fight will now happen so thats a good thing. You better believe that the UFC badly want Overeem as champion.

Also as well I'd like to add, Overeem is being accused of being arrogant, I would say his lack of engine and cardio is the issue here, not his application, if he could of done more he would of, he doesnt have the athletic ability to sustain a high paced fight, or a fight that is being contested outside of his immediate comfort zone.
