Default Saul Alvarez vs. Austin Trout on for May 4th

According to Saul's Twitter.

Great fight, but disgusting to think a 22 year old up comer is willing to fight a man like Trout when Mayweather wishes to have no part in dancing with him and would rather choose someone like Guerrero.

Where does Floyd ducking Trout come from? Isnt the Canelo vs Trout fight on the undercard so Floyd can fight the winner?

Be nice if Kell Brook vs Devon Alexander ended up on here!

I would have rather seen him in with two threats rather than one of them being eliminated.

This is a GREAT fight!! almost certain to steal the show on May 4th.

However it does have "controversy" written all over it.

At Welterweight, Guererro is the best avalible fight, hes coming of a year layoff and a stint in Prison. I have been very critical of Mayweather recently after being a long time huge fan but I don't think you can be critical of him if he doesn't jump in with every 154lbs fighter. He is clearly not a natural Light Middle or even Welterweight.

If Mayweather fights the winner of that fight this year, it will **** the critics up by becoming lineal Champion in 3 Divisions.

I don't actually get why Mayweather is getting so much stick for a possible Guerrero fight? Guerrero deserves a shot and is a good fighter.

I agree.

I don't think Guerrero has a chance at beating Mayweather but, he deserves the opportunity to try imo.

RG is coming off of a win after jumping up two weight classes. Load of bull**** for Floyd to take that fight.

I seriously CANNOT WAIT for him to retire for good.

I really couldn't care about his lay-offs. He consistently takes huge layoff's and really, that's his problem. It doesn't mean we should excuse him for taking on opposition that poses no threat to him.

Whether he's not a LMW or not, if he's the best fighter in the world, he should face them. He's fought in them divisions so saying he's not a natural fighter in them two divisions is no excuse on his end.

Why derail this thread with Mayweather talk?

This is an intriguing enough fight without him. This is a great mesh.

A fast, tricky, slippery southpaw against a powerful, precise puncher and both fight like they don't think they can lose. Only thing I'd be surprised by is a knockout.

think it might have the same outcome as Abril/Rios
unless Canelo is actually the real deal and stops Trout
should be the main event good fight

If you compare;

Floyd Mayweather who moved up from 130lbs coming of a year layoff which included 3 months in Prison fighting the highest avalible challanger at Welterweight, ranked No.5 in the division, his mandatory challanger, undefeated 3 weight world champion, has had two fights at world level at 147 both dominant wins over top 10/15 fighters, a Mexican/American on Mexican independence weekend. Also puts the fight between Canelo & Trout on the undercard to build a PPV vs the winner.

vs

Sergio Martinez who came up from 154lbs coming of a 9 month layoff and injury fighting Martin Murray. No.13 in the world, way down the list of highest avalible contenders, had one fight at world level which was a draw vs a fighter who lost his next two fights, his beat career win is over Nick Blackwell an Area level fighter, in Argentina against a British fighter, Britain being the most hated nation by Argentines, and his promoter has said theres no interest in making the Gennady Golovkin or Andre Ward fights.

Where is your post slating Sergio Martinez?

Not giving Mayweather any credit, but theres worse fights being made and more competative fights being avoided in Boxing these days.
