Initial look at this and I'm puzzled at this match even being made for Williams, let alone him being favored. Plus, Botha says he's training hard and has lost a lot of weight. Williams says he's had a 5 week camp with a lot of problems, including the loss of his trainer (Tony Mundine).
I'm not sure it'll be available to bet in the US, so I might not use much more time in on it, but am I missing some key piece of info here? I realize Botha is 44, but this is still a pro vs. an amateur. Maybe Botha feels he can make more money by closing out with some losses to hype jobs? Grasping for an explanation. |

I'm eager to see what the Over/Under looks like. A bet on the under might net more value than one on Botha outright, for instance - and likewise one on the over more than one on Williams. (since I think most agree we're looking at Williams by decision or Botha by KO) |

Jazza, why not a tag team match? Kimbo and Sonny Bill vs. Buffalo Botha and "The Chemist," Jose Canseco.

But I think a K.O. is more likely, given that Williams has yet to be tested at all in this department. If Williams wins by KO, I'll be just as floored as Botha. |

Yeah, I've seen no evidence that despite his size & strength Williams hits any harder than say Francesco Pianeta. Botha was even at this late stage just a few months ago gobbling up flush straight rights from Pianeta, full-blast, and not blinking. You need serious world class power to bother Botha with a single blow. (ie Tyson, Lewis, Klitschko) For the most part his stoppages have come via accumulation, and still from guys who crack heavier than Williams. He went the distance in draws with bangers Etienne and Briggs, and within minutes of making it against Moorer, Grant and Takam. His lack of power aside, I don't think Williams has the punching technique required to find the sweet spot. As open as Botha is to being hit, a lot of what SBW throws - especially scrambling on the back foot as the South African pressures him - is going to be wide and glancing. Botha won't even notice until afterwards looking in the mirror. |

"It's the lowest (weight) the Buffalo has been in years. If the Buffalo is 113 (kg), the Buffalo is in great shape."
Perhaps assuming his goal weight was unattainable Botha playfully patted his paunch before tipping the scales at 115.25kg. ***********.stuff.co.nz/sport/other-sports/8274982/SBW-weighs-in-as-favourite-for-Botha-bout |
