Default What is a spoiler in boxing?

I have heard that some boxers are "great spoilers". What exactly does this mean?

A hugger/Clincher or a runner who will ruin a fight w/a negative style.

Or a motivated fighter who "Spoils" a potential mega fight by beating the piss out of the overconfident fighter.

A fighter that is very good at nullifying his opponent's offensive arsenal.

Manning Galloway was sometimes described in these terms...
- In fact it was his accredited Nickname.

Wlad
Molina
Ward
Hopkins
Bika
Ruiz

Just to name a few. Although I'm not sure if I would classify Ward as a true spoiler. He usually is just miles better than his opponents while lacking srs power.
