Default Kell Brook will demand a warm up if his IBF Welterwight challenge is delayed

Kell Brook will demand a warm-up fight if his IBF Welterweight title challenge against Devon Alexander is delayed until May.

They were due to meet in Detroit next week, but the American postponed the fight with a bicep injury.

There were suspicions about the injury when Floyd Mayweather Jr tweeted that he was lining up Alexander for his next fight.

Brook's camp believe they will face Alexander, but promoters Golden Boy have hinted that the British star may have to wait until May for his chance.

Sheffield's Brook said: "If the fight against Alexander is moved to May then it is too long, because I am ready to go.

"If that is true I would like to ask the IBF if I can have a ten round warm up to get all this frustration out.

"I have been training for 13 weeks for the fight of my life and even had a nutritionist living with me in a hotel.

"I have moved back home and need to still tick over and watch what I eat to a certain extent because I don't want to ruin all the work I have done.

"Hopefully I will learn what is going on by the end of this week." ... Source ... [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If he does get a tune up I wouldn't want to be the guy he's in with, he's going to smash them to pieces!

It must be gutting, but not as gutting as if you lose a world title shot because your training was interrupted. Mitchell trained from home and Katsidis lived and trained in a different country, missing the birth of his child. I bet I know which one regrets their decision more.

IBF rules state neither fighter can fight anybody else when contracted to fight or the belt may be vacated, or the mandatory challenger gives up their position.. Unless Eddie can pull something off

I think, under the circumstances, it would be only fair to let Kell a) keep fighting and b) earn some money.

I think they'll likely let Brook have a keep busy fight. Don't expect it to be against anyone good though, probably just some poor soul who'll take a beating for a paycheck. Brook is so pissed off he looks like he's going to do some serious damage to somebody soon.

So does everyone but it all depends on the IBF and what they do

Brook if sanctioned will face someone in the IBF top 20. There is absolutely no point in him fighting anyone dangerous. Would he fight in the US? Might be a good idea to build for his fight with Alexander.
