Never heard of phenterline so I looked it up, its an appetite suppressant prescribed to fatties. Obviously not very effective.

yeah for Nandrolone, which is similar to deca. Its a steriod. What they are claiming he was currently testing positive for is not a performance enchancing drug, Valium and phenterline dont enchance your performance. The test sample was also taking during the start of the week so it could just be trace elements showing up of what he has in his system at the time. He could have used to valium for a number of things and the phenterline to loose some weight and suppress his apetite.

********en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nandrolone

its somewhat trivial what they are claiming and is being used to make botha not look creditable due to his claims and protests of the fight being shorten from 12 to 10 rounds.

One thing i also noticed is none of the judges were aware that the fight had been reduced to 10 rounds yet bothas manager claims that he was told by an offical, what offical told him because this offical sure as sht didnt tell the judges at ringside.

Doubts raised over claims that Francois Botha tested positive to a banned substance following Sonny Bill Williams fight by: Chris Garry From: The Courier-Mail February 10, 2013 9:35PM

SEVERE doubts have been cast on Francois Botha's reported positive test to a banned substance before his WBA title fight against Sonny Bill Williams.
Fairfax Media stated Sunday night that Botha's urine tested positive for banned stimulant Phentermine after a sample was taken last Tuesday.

However, Australian National Boxing Federation committee member John Hogg said it would be "bizarre" if Botha was even tested, let alone did so knowing he would fail.

Hogg is the ANBF Queensland representative and was the man who sent Botha for his full medical last week.

Hogg said there were no compulsory performance enhancing drugs tests required for boxers in Queensland and he had never heard of Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority spot-testing professional boxers in Queensland.

An ASADA spokesman said the body was not in a position to make a formal comment on the issue but typically boxing title fights fell out of their jurisdiction.

THERE is yet another twist in the Sonny Bill Williams fight farce, with Francois Botha admitting he signed a contract for a 10-round bout..

FRANCOIS Botha was fuming after a late decision to switch his Sonny Bill Williams bout from 12 rounds to 10 probably cost him victory. . .SBW farce a black eye for boxing
LEADING betting agencies have refunded all bets on Francois Botha as the SBW fight farce yesterday added another sorry chapter to Australian sport.

.Williams deservedly defeated Botha on points at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre last Friday, but was out on his feet in the 10th round when the fight ended despite everyone believing it was a 12-round contest.

Fairfax's report did not mention which body tested him and how the results were returned in five days.

There was no WBA official at the fight. "I sent Frans for a complete medical which tested him for hepatitis and AIDS etc but that is the only testing required of professional boxers," Hogg told The Courier-Mail. "I have never heard of ASADA spot-testing professional boxers in Queensland.

"I would think I would have heard about ASADA testing Botha or Sonny Bill because they have never showed up to boxing gyms in Queensland or on fight night.

"Tests for performance enhancing drugs are not compulsory in Queensland.''

Williams' manager, Khoder Nasser, was the promoter of the fight night last Friday and did not respond to requests from The Courier-Mail for comment on the doping test claim against Botha.

Hogg said Nasser could have asked Botha to submit to further testing. "But Frans could also rightly refuse,'' he said. "Then again, what is the point of testing a fighter on a Tuesday if you only get the result after the fight.

"The only way he would have been tested is if Nasser made him but then which body would Nasser have got to do it?"

Hogg refuted Botha's claims that the South African though his fight was meant to last 12 rounds.

"It was agreed to 10 before the fight and both camps knew it," Hogg said. "I knew about it being reduced to 10 and so did all the officials and ring staff.

"For Botha to suggest he thought it was 12 is ridiculous."

Doesnt it usually take weeks for a positive result to a banned substance to be known ?

Doesnt it have to go to a lab ?

If the result is a positive dont you then need a B sample which then takes another number of weeks ?

The Sonny Bill v Francois Botha fight is just another Khoder Nasser stain on boxing .

You are on the money...No mention of a "B" sample

I'd say that the Fairfax press could be in deep shit over this...One can only hope

Botha claims here he had tests in South Africa and he was clean. And of course a rematch in Durban.
