You do see the opponents' head twist sideways & back, at exactly the right time.. While even that looks fake, it would have been some incredibly good timing and physical positioning to pull it off.

The fat guy must've had an amatuer backyard wrestling background. His reaction to the missed shot was a good one, but he waited far too long to decide it was time.
