i hate to say it put pittman has little chance of winning in germany om points. he has to ko sturm to win imo. and sturm has a pretty decent chin. so sadly i think it will be a sturm victory

Pittman has great skills but if he cant KO him then he wont win in the crook infested Germany boxing community.
But all the best to him I hope he does bring back the title if not and he does well he can only gain good experience from it and maybe some more big fights in the states and make a name for himself get experience and then have a nother crack at a title and bring it home.

It's a win - win situation for Jamie. You won't have to worry about him getting ripped in Germany. There's a return clause in the contract, so the title is going no where

Seriously, i thought Oscar was scoring with combinations, and didn't get points from some observers for the body work he was doing.

sturm won that fight no doubt ,close fight but he scraped it .any one who can match oscar delahoya like sturm did will trounce pittman .unfortunately this is nothing more than a learning experience for pittman ,he will do his best if the fight goes ahead ,he will lose soundly .this will improve him as a fighter ,good move from their camp,as he is young and has plenty of time.

Fighting an overweight DLH will be a lot different to fighting a guy who is a monster at 160lbs. Sturm hasn't exactly set the world on fire since either.

dela hoya is delahoya ,whether he come in at 100% or 90% or 60% to beat him is still a mean feat .we talkn bout a hall of famer here . sturm can box ,big time .

Pittman ready for world title fight

AUSTRALIA'S Athens Olympic boxing captain Jamie Pittman will fight for a world title, when he returns to Europe for the first time since his controversial loss in Athens.

Southpaw Pittman, 26, will challenge Germany's WBA middleweight world champion Felix Sturm in Dusseldorf on April 5.

Pittman, who is based at Gosford on the NSW central coast, has accumulated a record of 16-0 (7 KOs) since turning professional.

He entered the paid ranks in late 2004, just a handful of months after suffering a contentious one point loss to German Lukas Wilaschek, who he knocked down in the final round.

As a professional Pittman has won several regional middleweight titles, but 29-year-old Sturm represents a significant rise in class.

It will be the third title defence for fourm (28-2-1, 12 KOs), who was held to a draw by his last challenger, American Randy Griffin.

The German first earned worldwide recognition in June 2004, when he suffered a controversial points loss to Oscar de la Hoya in a fight for the WBO middleweight crown.

Pittman's trainer Dean Robinson said they were confident of toppling Sturm, but admitted the opportunity had come sooner than he expected.

"We're probably a little behind the eight ball, it's probably a fight that's come maybe two years early for us," Robinson said.

"But we're looking forward to a good opportunity and you never know what can happen, we're going over there to win and we believe we can.

"Obviously it's hard to win a fight like that in somebody else's backyard, but we're definitely going over there confident, and we think we can give him a bit of trouble with Jamie's style and speed.

"Sturm is definitely a talented guy, a good fighter and a good champion. I think Jamie is going to be a little bit awkward for him."

Robinson was loath to give any hints about Pittman's fight plan, but revealed he may look overseas for sparring partners.

"As far as Felix and that kind of style, it's very hard because we don't have anybody in Australia like that," Robinson said.

"We may be doing a bit of shopping overseas shortly to get the right type of sparring.

"We've just started the early stages of sparring in our gym with a couple of good solid guys just to blow the cobwebs out after having the Christmas break off."

Sturm has been knocked out by guys no where near the level of Oscar since then... So he isn't all he was cracked up to be. Oscar came in very poor shape, something like seven weight divisions from where he first started fighting.

Pittman is an underdog with a live chance in this 1.

Just wish he had a bit more power to really drive Sturm back.
We shall see tho in a few weeks time.
