Francesco Pianeta's promoter Uli Steinforth says Pianeta will not be fighting Wladimir Klitschko:

So who will Wladimir be fighting?

Sadly, it seems they are waiting until the Klitschkos retire.

They know they have little chance of beating Wladimir, but will have a better chance at winning a title in a few years against somebody else.

Why'd he not just go straight for Povetkin? I must be missin sumthin. He shoulda jumped all over that fight once the WBA finally started pushin for Povetkin to take it.

I don't care about who his tuneup is. Povetkin, Pulev, Adamek, and Helenius need to step up and fight him already. I still gotta watch some fights from Price.

Partly because he was worried that Povetkin would pull out (as he has twice in the past) - despite all the talk from Sauerland, if K-2 won the purse bid, Povetkin would likely vacate his paper title. And the fight would be delayed until summer anyway because of the purse bid, so Wlad would be inactive for a long time.

Wladimir is 37 next month, and prime doesn't last forever, so he wants to get a few more fights in before he fades with age.

K2 offer slave contracts for voluntary challengers when some HWs can make more money elsewhere.

Only mandatory challengers get a fair deal

Because this fight would result in a purse bid wich will cost a lot of money! So I can understand that Wladimir wants it in the summer because then there would be much more money for both fighters! This fight could sell out a soccer stadium without a problem!

Purse bids would of been finalized back in Feb had he not asked permission to delay the fight. If k2 could easily of won the bid why didn't they and make Povektin give up his title ?.....Hes looking for an easy night and its after blowing up in his face

i think Wlad wants April fight, then he will say he needs time to recover, maybe its a way to try and slowly dodge the Povetkin fight, thats my opinion.

Povetkin would be as easy a night as anybody. He's tailor-made for Wladimir.

K-2 may not have won the purse bid, Sauerland is very rich. But if K-2 did win, we could have a repeat of what happened in 2010, with Povetkin not showing up at the press conference.

That's an 80/20 fight, he would be at least a 5-1 favorite. Won't see the 12th.
