I've never seen you involved in a good debate on here. I only ever see you post two to three lines of hate, and then you're away.
They all follow the same line m8.

Steve Collins: One of the most underated boxers of all time. Fact!
Ha! Yeah he was TERRIFIED of Steve at 29, but then he went up to heavy at 34.

That's some funny shit man!

As is if Collins could have beaten Roy.

What did Collins have though? He claims he was ducked in the late 90's but I'm pretty sure he didn't have a belt at that point, what could he bring to the table even at that point?
At 168 he had the WBO belt. That wasn't enough to entice Roy into a fight. I've got so much respect for Steve for chasing Roy, but he was in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

Roy had no chance of unifying at 168 after Toney. Liles and Benn were Don King fighters, and The Levin's who handled Roy back then, didn't want to deal with Don.

Maybe if Steve had've had a major belt, things might have been different.

Roy then moved up to 175.

When Steve chased him again up at that weight, he'd been inactive, he had no belt, and he wasn't a mandatory etc. Also he wouldn't have brought any money to the table. Outside of the U.K. there was no demand for the fight. Steve brought literally nothing to the table back then.

Had he been active at 175, and holding a major belt, then I think Roy would have fought him at 175. I don't think Roy fducked him out of fear of losing, I think he simply dismissed him. Steve was a great warrior though, and again I respect that.

all time nobody is on the level of prime jones when talking about the combination of skills, reflexes, speed, athletiscm. not even robinson or leonard.

ah, nothing like a montage of RJJ clowning a bunch of civil servants in the ring.

RJJ was not a very technically skilled boxer, if he was he would not have been KO'ed over & over when his physical ability started to decline. Look at Hopkins and Toney, guys Jones beat, but you will never see them getting KO'ed by the likes of Green even if they box until they are 50.

James Toney, John Ruiz,Montell Griffin, Thulani Malinga and Virgil Hill were in that montage...which area of the civil service exactly did they work in?

Watch the 3:10 mark of this video. It is funny as hell when Roy is dancing in the ring while the other fighter is on the floor!

Roy is the most naturally talented fighter since Ali, and maybe ever. That said He was a brilliant offensive fighter, but his defense solely relied on his athletic gifts. When that left him, he was easier to hit, and didn't have the defensive chops to counteract the departure of his athletic ability.

That said, in his prime he is probably a top 10-15 p4p fighter, and had great footwork, hand speed, timing, and offensive skills. He could lay on the ropes in his prime, and make people miss, but when he tried to do that as he got older he was caught with clean shots.

Collins would have beaten Roy, not easily but he'd have done him. Roy just flat out refused to face him knowing that fact. Imagine how it would have looked, the big American star getting battered by a virtually unknown (in the states) Irishman.

That's why Roy ducked him. Incidently he also ducked a at the time unknown Joe Calzaghe and he ducked Nigel Benn.

Jones Jr was good, don't get me wrong. But he had a habit of ducking European boxers who he felt could hurt him. I don't know whether it was because of cowardice or a management decision that they didn't want to see their big American boxer get defeated by a European or what.

Fact is, Jones Jr ducked 3 opponents. Calzaghe, Collins and Benn. Now, I don't think Benn would have defeated him but Collins definitely would and Calzaghe it would have been close but Joe could have done him.
