Did you not read the bit i wrote about drugs? The guy was a drugs cheat, his career means nothing. He is no different to Lance Armstrong.

I have nothing against the guy, i have his box set, he had crazy skills and he is a great commentator but his achievements are all tarnished.Its not my opinion its fact.

It's not in anyway a fact. We've no proof he was roiding all of his career.

Also, are you saying that the roids gave him his crazy skills?

Roids wouldn't affect his handspeed, footwork, timing, reflexes, shot selection etc.

Roy Jones was so fast...
Picture perfect combos and reflexes from another world.
But no defence and a weak chin.

The weight he put on to go up in HW and fight poor John Ruiz became the worst decision of his career.
Couldn't produce the same speed anymore and didn't knew how to defend.

Maybe the roid abuse was killing his matrix-speed to.

I suppose it was a 1 off when he got caught was it? Its up to you what you believe. Steroids improve most physical aspects of course it would improve his hand speed and reflexes, you must be crazy to think otherwise, why exactly would he take them? It wasn't to get bigger muscles that's for sure!!!

Maybe someone was injecting him without him knowing?! I suppose anything is possible in your world.

Why are all the butthurt Roid Jones Jr fanboys so reluctant to admit their hero was a coward and a drugs cheat?

Benn = Ducked
Eubank = Didn't duck him but Roid admitted he didn't want to fight him
Collins = Ducked
Calzaghe = Ducked
Michalczewski = Ducked
Frankie Liles = Ducked
Hopkins in 2002 = Ducked

He was a coward, admit it.

The worst decision of his career, was coming back from heavy to fight Tarver, in a rush and with no expert assistance.

So you're assuming that he roided from 1989 until 2000 then?

What about after Hall?

Did he roid after that in your opinion?

He went on to beat Harding, Gonzalez, Woods, Tarver and Ruiz.

Roids wouldn't have had any effect on his skills that he displayed.

Wow, is all I can say.

I hope I'm being baited and you're having fun, because no one could be this stupid.

Have you even read my last posts to you?

Benn - A Don King fighter.

Eubank - Didn't chase the big fights, and was happy on his Sky contract. He himself has admitted this in various interviews, and I also believe that it's in his biography.

Collins - I'll give you. But I think he dismissed him rather than ducked him. He beat better fighters than Collins in his career, and went up to heavy in his mid 30's.

If you're scared of Steve Collins at your peak, in your 20's, then you wouldn't even think about going up to heavy in your 30's.

He was terrified of Collins, but tried to get Tyson at 34/35? Makes perfect sense!

Calzaghe - Dismissed. Again, explain to me how he ducked him? When Roy unified at 175, Joe was struggling against Reid. When Roy went up to heavy Joe was fighting Brewer and Pudwell etc. He was an UNKNOWN 168 WBO belt holder, and that belt wasn't worth a packet of peanuts.

DM - Go and look at his resume, and tell me he wanted Roy. AgAin, you can have a whole page of links.

Liles - Another Don King fighter.

Hopkins - Was apparently desperate for the rematch, yet wouldn't accept the 40%, DESPITE the fact that Roy had already BEATEN him, and he would have had to have moved DOWN in weight for the catchweight.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Let me know when any of this has sunk in, and show me some evidence of all of this ducking.

Thats the point, nobody can prove when he started using steroids. For all we know he could have been using them as an amateur we just cant tell. At the end of the day he is never going to admit this just like Mosley/Vargas/Vitali/Toney/Holyfield/Mayorga they will all just say it was a one off or they never knew what was happening, they just drank the shakes!!

You need to ask yourself why would an established elite professional start using drugs mid career? They wouldn't as they wouldn't need to, they are already at the top. Therefore you have to presume they use it to get to the top or their skill set declined so they used to stay at the top.

My point isn't that Jones was shit because that would simply be ludicrous, he still possessed an amazing skill set. But we just don't know if his speed/timing/stamina/athleticism would have been the same without the drugs. They must have made an impact or else he wouldn't have taken them.

Its not an American v British posters arguement. Prime v Prime i would back Jones to beat everyone at 160-175lbs in his era. My point is without the drugs we just don't know.

Eubank/Benn/Collins/Calzaghe were all clean fighters....as far as we know!!!

I understand where you're coming from, but the point is this, you're writing off his career and his great wins, but without having any actual evidence.

It's all if's, but's and maybe's.

We don't know what he took, when, and if he did at all.

You said he looked great beating cab drivers.

I then mentioned that he also beat very good-great fighters and looked great in doing so.

Your response was, it was the drugs. But you've just admitted that you don't know any details.

You also said his career means nothing. How does his career mean nothing, when again nobody knows exactly what happened?

They're very bold statements to make when you don't have any facts.

After Hall, he was randomly tested on 2-3 occasions, and he passed.

A lot of people's response to that is, "Well, he wouldn't have been stupid enough to take them after Hall." That is a common phrase that gets thrown about.

But after Hall, he went on to beat Harding, Gonzalez, Woods, Tarver and Ruiz at heavyweight.

So if you agree with the above statement, he didn't need anything to beat those guys.

Also, he used Mackie Shilstone, a well respected sports strategist and psychologist to help gain weight for Ruiz. Mackie has helped lots of football players, and boxers such as Michael Spinks and Bernard Hopkins to gain weight. If ever there was a time to use roids, it would have been then. His reflexes, footwork and handspeed looked great against Ruiz, even with the additional weight. He weighed 200 pounds. I don't believe that Mackie would never have risked his reputaion of 30 years, to get involved in anything untoward.

Also, between the period of 2000-2003 he tried to negotiate for fights against Dariusz M, Bernard Hopkins, and Mike Tyson. Again, he could have been tested at any point. If he'd have needed roids that bad, and they'd have had made such a big difference to him, then why would he have chased those fights after Hall?

Once again, steroids would not have made any difference to his actual skillset, otherwise every fighter in the world would be roiding.

Roy's skills were honed from the age of 7, with his Dad.
