Default The worst stretch in the careers of top fighters.

What are the weakest stretch of fights or years in the careers of fighters? Not necessarily their losses if that isn't significant to their career, but also when you expected more from them or where they did little for their future legacy in retrospect. How distant are they from them, are they on them, or do they have none?

My examples, spelled out, sometimes getting picky as these are the top fighters of today...

Bradley: 11-present, W TKO8 Casamayor, W SD Pacquiao, scheduled Provodnikov
Donaire: 09-10, W UD Concepcion, W KO3 Vargas, W TKO8 Hernan
Froch: none
Mares: none
Marquez: 05-06, W UD Polo, L UD John, W TKO7 Terdsak, W KO9 Jaca
Martinez: none
Mayweather: 03-05, W UD Sosa, W TKO7 Ndou, W UD Corley, W TKO8 Bruseles
Pacquiao: 11-present, W MD Marquez III, L SD Bradley, L KO6 Marquez IV
Viloria: 06-07, L UD Nino, NC (D) Nino II, L MD Sosa
Vitali: 09-11, W UD Johnson, W KO10 Sosnowski, W UD Briggs, W KO1 Solis
Ward: none
Wladimir: 03-04, L TKO2 Sanders, W KO1 Moli, W TKO4 Nicholson, L TKO5 Brewster I

Observations- Of the 12 listed Froch, Mares, Martinez, and Ward are the four with no bad or "could have capitalized better" stretch in their careers. The two with the worst showings up there are Viloria and a standout worst streak from Wladimir. I came up with only Bradley and Pacquiao being presently on their "bad stretch."

good list.

Disagree with Matrinez. It tool him ages to get started.

I don't like Alvarez run since winning a world title.

Also Amir Khan when from being a potential superstar to:
Peterson L, Garcia L, Then random win against lightweight.

My rationale is that he did all he could to get to the positions of being in relevant fights.

Mike Tyson. A case could be made for every fight post Bruno 2 1996, but it got worse 2002-05

Real good ones guys. Tyson one is good, same with Khan. I kinda agree with Alvarez's run. Don't want to turn it into an Alvarez convo but I really don't think he has a bad stretch compared to the runs being listed, but then again, he's not at their level.

Some recent all timers who hopefully never fight again and continue these streaks:
Wonjongkam- TD1 Mukai, L brutal TKO6 Sonny Boy Jaro, 4 random wins, L brutal TKO3 Rey Megrino
Calderon- L KO8 Segura, L KO3 Segura II, W SD Rivas, L TKO5 Fuentes

Sturm- W SD Macklin, D Murray, W Zbik, L Geale, L Soliman
Dawson- L TD11 Pascal, W UD Diaconu, NC2 Hopkins
Alexander- W UD Kotelnik, L TD10 Bradley, W SD10 Matthysse

Judah... now this is just plain fun.
L UD12 Baldomir, L UD12 Mayweather, NC1 Galvan, L TKO11 Cotto, W UD10 Edwin Vazquez, W UD12 Ryan Davis, (oh, those two W's were cute, huh, boom!) L TD9 Clottey

A dude on a real bad one who I like a lot is Koki Kameda: All wins, UD, KO4, UD, SD against David de la Mora, Mario Macias, Nouldy Manakane, and Hugo Ruiz, respectively.

Andre Dirrell, after Abraham in March 2010 up until February 2013 (almost 3 years), he's done:

- Cunningham (W)
- Gbenga (W)

This shitty run is likely to continue until the rest of his career, it seems.
