The result doesn't warrant protest, but the scores certainly did.

He should've got the result but it was a close fight. Scores were disgraceful and need investigating.

This. Depending on what you score a fight on the result could have gone either way but those cards were ridiculous and can only give Australian boxing a bad reputation.

klasen won that fight, landed clean shots all night. The one sided decision to tomlinson was ridiculous. Great fight though.

More here..

Golden Gloves lodge official protest

Quote:
“Stevie Wonder would have done better than that lot. There is no way Malcolm lost, certainly not by those margins. I’m not letting this rest and have already contacted the IBO.”

The IBO system will see a fight tape sent to officials around the world, crucially without commentary. They will report back to the IBO, who could then mandate a rematch.

Whether or not Golden Gloves is successful in its bid, what is undeniable is Australian boxing’s growing reputation as the “wild west” of boxing where anything goes. Just ask Zolani Morali and Fransie Botha, who both copped major incompetence in their visits Down Under.
The message to SA boxers is clear: you fight in Australia at your peril.
We have become the new Germany of boxing thanks to corrupt officals.

Daylight robbery as Klassen gets stiffed

Quote:
“It was a disgrace . . . I’ve lost a lot of respect for the IBO and their officials. I can cop a defeat, but not when it’s a sham. They’ve done a bad turn to a good fighter,” raged Berman.

How the three judges turned in such scores is a mystery. US referee Pete Podgorski was little better, ruling a knockdown in Tomlinson’s favour when Klassen clearly tripped in the first round. Later, he ruled that a cut on Tomlinson had occurred from a headbutt when it patently was a punch
Phil Austin the muppet can also be seen gesturing to officals that it was a headbut when clearly it was not. This is pretty important because had it been stopped on that cut it would not have resulted in a TKO victory to the challenger. fckwits cant even get a basic thing like that right good luck with thinking they can score a fight.

The commentary was actually pretty balanced from memory...not actually balanced but you know what I mean, as balanced as you could expect.

Did Raymond say something along the lines that Will needed a knockout to win?
Maybe he didn't actually.

He said something like that. Pretty sure he had Klassen winning.

I watched the fight.

Those judges all need sacking as far as I'm concerned. Tomlinson may have won it, but equelly so may Klassen - it was a very close bout.

Either these judges can't score a ****ing boxing- in which case **** them off; or they are ****-licking up to a home 9Aussie) fighter - in which case **** them off.

I think from memory Garry Dean had it something like 109-118...Lord ****ing save me from fools like that...this **** has been doing **** like this for years.

Can't that fool ever score a bout without sliding his tongue up their 'home' fighters ****...we should do a thread on how many fighters careers Aussie judges have rubbed out with felch-scoring in favour of a particular promoter/camp/manager/trainer.

Similalry, the IBO referee must want to come out to Australia again...he blew 2 big calls that were both to Klassen's detriment.

The first ****-up was in the first round when Klassen obviously slipped after a little roughousing and touched gloves to canvas...shock/horror the referee calls it a knockdown! I thought it was a Klassen round...instead it turns out 10-8 for Tomlison.

The second referee ****-up was when Klassen, who was scoring with repeated right hands all night on the none-to-defensivly-savvy Tomlinson, landed a great right hand and scored an obvious and massive cut. As the broadcasters were saying, many other fights have been stopped for lesser cuts...although I don't have problem's if Tomlinson was keen to continue (which he definitly was). But to rule the cut as caused by an accidental head-clash and not the obvious punch has a big effect on the bout...and not only if it's stopped on cuts.

Obviously Klassen wouldn't have gotten the TKO on cuts after that 'accidental head-clash' ruling had Tomlinson not been able to continue, but note also that a fighter isn't going to work on the eye if its been ruled as caused from an accidental head-clash as if/when it is stopped he might not win on the scorecards anyways. Such was the case this night...the bout was just to close to call .

These clowns (talking about the judges now) hurt Aussie boxing when they pull **** like this, as foreign fighters will watch this bout and just won't come out here if they can't get a fair shake.

I viewed the fight couple of times & IMO, whilst Will did land a punch, it wasn't sole reason Klassen went down. Klassen threw a punch & in doing so threw himself off balance. Difficult one, but given Will landed the punch at precise moment, one would be pushed to rule it anything bar knockdown
Both cuts were by punch
Scores were outrageous, but Will did win by IMO 3/4 rounds

I dare say, most ringside doctors in other States would've waved it off on cuts = Klassen TKO win
