Default Peterson vs Matthysse May 18th

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Good fight between the number 2 & 4 ranked fighters in the division. Winner will likley go to number 1. Matthysse looks on fire but not really faced anyone. Petersons win over Holt was quality work. Matthysse has been outboxed at times in fights and Peterson may be able to do keep it at range, but can he stand Matthysse's heat.

Light Welterweight (140lbs)
World Championship: (Vacant)
1. Danny Garcia (WBC & WBA)
2. Lucas Mathysse
3. Amir Khan
4. Lamont Peterson (IBF)
5. Brandon Rios
6. Zab Judah
7. Michael Alvarado
8. Pablo Cesar Cano
9. Khabib Allakhverdiev
10. Denis Shafikov
11. Joan Guzman
12. Ajose Olusegun
13. Mauricio Herrera
14. DeMarcus Corley
15. Michelle De Rocco

WBO - Juan Manuel Marquez (Ranked at 147lbs)

Really like this fight. Should be a good clash of styles. Can't pick a winner yet.

This will show us how good Matthysse is, I think. Lamont is versatile and can actually fight pretty well on the inside and off the ropes. Lucas is obviously an offensive machine with some nice skills to set his work up. Should be thrilling.

Any combination of the top 5 guys is going to be a good fight. This one is no different. Think I'd very slightly favour Peterson but very close.

It seems the best are interested in fighting each other at 140lbs. Possibly because none of them are money fighters yet. It really is better for the sport.

Meanwhile Amir Khan is still searching for a soft touch opponent.

Great fight though, Peterson walked though anything Khan could throw at him, somehow I don't think he will be so keen to do that against Matthysse.

Bit unfair really considering he has fought 3 of that top ten on that list above and has had a 'soft touch' in his last fight after being cleaned out by Garcia.

One soft touch is fair enough but if you are a world level fighter, which Khan is in fairness then 2 is taking the piss, you can't expect fans to fork out money for shit fights, its insulting.

He hasn't announced his opponent yet as far as I know but who would you realistically like him to face in the UK?

Realistically I would like to see him fight somebody like DeMarcus Corley, perfectly winnable and a known opponent plus it has the McCloskey angle, so it would sell.

The angle is that Corley has beaten someone Khan has already beaten? You've got some unusual ideas for marketing, Bill...
