Default Jim Jeffries v Pinklon Thomas,Bonecrusher,& Witherspoon ?

Old Time great Jim Jeffries against modern , very good heavies .
Pinklon Thomas
Bonecrusher Smith
Tim Witherspoon

Three six foot three alphabet champs, around 210lbs durable and good bangers, not great fighters ,but very good, durable, and strong, and decent boxers. .
How do they do against the California Grizzly Bear?
15rds, modern gloves ,Jeffries has a year to get acclimatised to the changes [,I won't say advances,] in boxing.

???

Pinky and Spoon most likely stop him with their skill level.

Bonecrusher only wins if he lands the right a couple times. I might take Jeffries in this one.

Its honestly very hard to say.

He might loose to them all, or he might beat all three in the same night.

Either is plausible.

It is always going to be at the back of your mind that you are comparing a genuinely great fighter, to one who had the talent but never quite used it.

We have to assume big Jeff was a lot better and more consistant during his peak than the film of him we have. He was a dominant champion of his day but then he was bigger tha everyone else. How would bonecrusher cope against faster tougher guys with tiny gloves cutting him to bits in big Jims day? A good Bonecrusher was outworked by marvis frazier aftre all. For all the talent Witherspoon and Thomas had they were not that reliable were they? I give Jeffries the edge.

What's going to be at the forward, aft, starboard and port side of my mind is how Jeffries struggled against the lilly white Liliputians of his day.

Mine too.

Don't see Jim as having too much of a chance against these three, at their respective bests.

Boxing on too much to move him forward past the early 1900s, he might beat a few 10s guys and 20s guys on speed. But SHWs with speed, jab, defence and power would have a very easy time with him

It's not really fair because sports do generally progress, if Pinklon Thomas was around in the 1890s he probably wouldn't have the same jab and skillset

If he is being compared favourabley to dominant champions, then he is being grosley over rated.

Wasn't the undisputed heavyweight champion while these three were around, a fighter who had been fighting close to the supermiddleweight limit a few months earlier?

Did said light heavy ever have the sack to challenge a prime heavyweight like Spoon or Pinky? Or did he instead fight a Norwegian pastry and an overgrown Leprechaun with a penchant for the booger sugar?

No, Spinks was a big 6'3 LHW who rehydrated back up after weighing in. He was 200lbs in against Holmes wasn't he?

Anyway Carl Williams should have been the Champ instead of Spinks anyway but got jobbed. Spinks beat a well past it version of Holmes
