Default ESPN : Matthysse-Peterson, Alexander-Brook possible for May in D.C.

Schaefer plan is to have Peterson possibly fight Matthysse in DC on May 18 with Alexander-Brook on @SHOsports undercard.
Terrific card if it comes off.

Silly for Matthysse to forgo his mandatory with Garcia. Though I know that's exactly what GB wants.

GB trying to pull a switch a roo and save Garcia. Shafikov is rated #2 in the IBF with #1 empty, i want to see him get a shot at PEDerson and think he can win. Lucas should insist on his Garcia mandatory status.

This is such a good idea and great news that it certainly won't happen.

I do believe that Peterson will fight Matthysse. It keeps Matthysse busy and away from Khan/Garcia, puts him in a fight where he has some chance of losing so he never goes near those two relative cash cows, and also if Peterson does win that fight isn't nearly as dangerous and is likely more profitable than a fight with Khan/Garcia.

Lucas should make Garcia fight or be forced to drop the belt exposing him for what he is.

The thing is if he tries to force the fight, I could see Golden Boy making a unification with Garcia-Peterson instead that trumps the mandatory. The WBA really shouldn't let Peterson fight for their belt ever again, but they're so corrupt I could see it happening. Matthysse will probably be told that either he fights Peterson next or Garcia does.

GB will sway his mind with a random payout of 5 figures to fight Peterson, saying that he'd make the same money for either fight. And they'd be ultimately in control of that.

And of course if Garcia is the one to fight Peterson, he'd be in the clear to leave the division as an "undisputed" champion.

In fairness, Garcia vs. Judah is a good fight and worthy of the re-sked delay.

That wouldn't change his mandatory status it would only delay the inevitable and Lucas could fight the new unified Champion, even better. This is chess not checkers.
