Not dissing Thompson, who hung in there and found his opening, but that punch looked to be just a little BEHIND the ear.
There's a reason why rabbit punches are illegal: They are much more dangerous as they cause more brain trauma. So my question is, shouldn't this fight be ruled a NC? |

Not really. Now he'll probably take on Thompson or something after the Cunningham fight and claim a "win via proxy" much like Floyd fans have been ever since Manny got KO'd by Marquez. The way all those guys celebrated, you'd think Floyd himself was in the ring with Manny that night. He wasn't. Manny might have lost, but the record will always show it wasn't your hero who ever bothered to do it.
Why actually fight the guy yourself when someone else can do it for you, enabling your fans to claim you'd whip him if you had fought? Take the fantasy win over the real risk. Duh. Note I actually like Fury, but I agree, he should have taken this fight and the payday. It would have been viewed as a big win for him too (this is a little reminiscent of Ward/Bute not happening, it would have been a big payday and looked nice on Ward's record, but instead Froch got it.) |
