Why did you sign up for a fight so soon?

Why not get down a gym, learn basic technique, progress to sparring and then have a fight?

Its kinda the whole idea of the programme..they train you for 14 weeks with a fight in place...and your opponent is doing the same thing..does that makw sense?

spend all your time learning the Ali shuffle....also practice the dempsey roll....not by actually studying dempsey, but by studying the Japanese Anime cartoon.

the trainers are going to do what they will do...but its stance....punching (proper single shots)....combinations....defense.....countering (defense and offense combined)....sparring......some controlled..some working on certain sparring..by 10 weeks you should be sparring for real.....going close to a actual fight situation.

in 15 weeks you are still going to look like shit though. dont worry about trying to run any more than 3 miles...these are going to be 3 2 minutes rounds I am guessing...for the most part hard 1 and two miles and sprint work is what you want to do....800m and 400 m especially.... also hill work...i like finding a good hill...two minutes up...walk down for 1 minute....back up...repeat.

Congratulations. What are the terms of this 'white collar bout'.

A trainer here in Blackpool used to put on shows like this. Despite very little experience in the sport he would charge individuals £2000 to be put on a show. They would train and then spar in front of their work colleagues.

There would be about 8 fights on with approximately 12 paying the two grand each.

£24,000

He would then change £50 a ticket for the boxers work colleagues and your talking good attendance here - prob around 800 people.

£40,000

He would then rent a ring and a MC

-£1500

He would do a deal with the venue for them to share profits on alchol sold.

??? Profit.

This would in all likelihood supersede the cost of renting the venue. He would then make a nominal donation to a charity of like £200 so they could use the charity logo on the posters and to help sell items in the auction.

It's a great business model.

oh yeah for sure its a business model..im not that naive, lol.
theres a small fee (nowhere near that 2000 pounds mark!) u get it back if u sell a certain amount of tickets..
tbh tho im a huge boxing fan and would pay the fee just for the 14 weeks training if i had to,i find it serious extra motivation that it all leads to a fight.
This is a tried and tested thing,i have pals that have done it successfully and now continue to box on..
anyway was just here hoping for some helpful advice on starting and what to concentrate on..thanks
