How come short fighters no longer use the bob and weave?

Canelo does seem to fade in the later rounds. might be his undoing against Trout.

Floyd is slightly short in the general sense, but for his weight class he has a tall person's build. There are better defensive options for a "tall" boxer like Floyd.

manny can't even cut a ring off or fight on the inside let alone bob n weave. He's as far as you can get from being a swarmer. Fighting inside as a southpaw doesn't utilize the unorthodox southpaw angles.

Tyson tended to use the peek-a-boo style of defense more than the Frazier/Armstrong/Qawi style of bob and weave. That said, your point stands regarding FMJ's method of defending.

But what if Floyd move up to SMW and fight someone like Carl Froch? Do you think that a bob and weave tactic will be a nightmare for Froch?
Manny is short, so won't the bob and weave be perfect for him?
What about Broner? He's another midget that could really dominate with that style?

Max Kellerman said that Sergio Martinez is one of the most athletic middleweights of all times. When I called his radio show and asked him if Sergio can use the bob and weave tactic against guys like Chad Dawson, Max said it will be impossible for Sergio.

How effective is the shoulder roll against a bob and weave fighter though? Remember the fight Tyson had against Holmes and Holmes tried to shoulder roll and end up getting knocked out? Do you think that is a indication of Holmes just being too old and past prime? Or that Holmes isn't a naturally shoulder roll fighter? Or that the weave is actually superior to the shoulder roll?

But how come the style can't be implemented among the lower weights where it could truly be effective? With so many short fighters trying to move up in weight? For instance do you think Jaun Manuel Marquez will be more successful using the bob and weave against Floyd

It's a fighting style, not like punching power or speed that is inborn.

It can be taught, but does the boxer have the reflexes and speed to do it.
