I think it's extremely unlikely, look at how perfectly flush Gamboa got caught by a big puncher in his last fight when he went down. That was a Tarver on Roy Jones sort of shot and Gamboa shook it off easily when he got back up. Gamboa goes down often due to his recklessness but I think he actually has a very good chin and recovery abilities.

He'd be fighting a guy who could easily fight at 140.

I think if Broner lands, Gamboas recovery wont be so good

Maybe. However you also sometimes find guys who are prone to flash knockdowns at lower weights and their chin gets steadier as they move up closer to their walking around weight. Don't forget that Gamboa came into the ring at 148 in his last fight, Broner came in against Rees at 150. There really isn't the difference in size people like to make out.

I would favor Gamboa if he would be the same size as Broner but he aint + he has showed that he is a bit chinny.
Him being reckless is another thing why i think Broner would KO him.

Gamboa is a level of opponent that Broner hasn't even come close to fighting, but he [Gamboa] is at a size disadvantage that he's never experienced before. Especially with that reach. Can't stress enough how important that will be if they were to fight. Taller, bigger, almost as fast and a more powerful guy can be a problem if he's able to touch you from a distance.

Edit: But one thing that would work in Gamboa's favour, is Broner's shit footwork.

Gamboa just has to fight how he did as an amateur, he was often competing against tall opponents who were just as fast as him. Reach is one of the most over rated physical aspects of boxing imo. If you have timing and footwork then it becomes completely irrelevant. Case in point Andre Ward, he has midget arms compared to everyone but he still outboxes them from the outside. Especially when he was an amateur in the 81kg weight class.

gamboa hits the deck ALOT against guys at 130/126. Broner's chin has been semi-tested against demarco. Broner has power that gamboa has never felt before. Broner wins by ko/tko.
