Default Burns-Vasquez situation explained [vid]....

.... by none other than Frank.

BORKED

In a nutshell:
  • Various media outlets (UK) were given copies of the emails during negotiations and contracts, to prove the fight was genuine.
  • Vasquez has pulled out with a legit injury, with a doctor's note provided (make of that what you will). This doctor's note has been given to every journo and is available online to view on Boxnation's website.
  • Blames a small minority of people "spreading poison" and trying to tarnish his shows. Says there's a sabotage mentality out there.
  • He himself -- in addition to Burns and the fans -- is out of pocket with this cancellation (with the booking of the stadium, etc).
  • Says the Vasquez fight "is on 100%" on 20th April. And that this is just a postponement, nothing more. Rumours of it being off is an agenda against him.
  • 9,000 tickets for the show had been sold. These tickets are of course valid for the new date.
  • Says Ricky Burns' team are still really pissed off about it all, and that he needs to have a meeting with them to clear the air.
  • The purpose of fighting Vasquez is to win another title and have more bargaining power when they eventually come to face Broner.

"When they eventually come to face Broner".

Yeah, right.

I'm with you, man. Frank doesn't want any problems for Burns.

he tells us the fight is 100% on but then goes on to say he needs to have a meeting with Burns to sort stuff out...so its NOT 100% on!

Burns could turn round and say he wants freed from him and to be honest no one could blame him.

Burns is £12,000 out of pocket after two failed fights in 3 months have fell through.

I think it's just a meeting to clear the rift between the two, as opposed to finalising a deal for the fight. From what he's saying, he's just gonna' reassure them the fight will be going ahead.

Burns could do that, but it's not in his best interests to. Like you said, he's already £12,000 out of pocket. If the fight is still there, he can't afford to reject it and sit inactive for another 3-4 months.

assuming of course that Vazquez has signed and/or agreed to the terms.

Vazquez's camp was VERY CLEAR right up to last week that the fight was off unless Vazquez got his quote.

Yes, I agree. I'm still of the opinion the fight will not happen.

Yip, I don't believe the fight will go ahead either.
