Look at Vitali's face and the way Wladimir lays there. This is one of the most iconic KO Pictures of all times. Pacquaio/Marquez 4 is iconic too, but there's still something missing in that one.
This particular one captured everything in one shot: Pain, opportunity loss, suffering, sadness, disappointment.
This picture is what boxing is all about.

Its a pretty nice moment, although today much less relevant since it was by no means career ending for Wlad. In a way, it has helped him to refine his approach and through it, dominate the division for almost a full decade now. So I will say that you are not correct about this image being iconic in any way, meaning that it will not be kept in boxing's collective consciousness or unconsciousness for any meaningful period of time. In fact, most have already forgotten it, mostly due to the above reasons. Rather than being iconic, this is more like a cult image for Wlad's haters and deniers.
