Dempsey by ko by mid fight. Too much hustle, pressure and power not too mention speed for Corbett to overcome. Jim's straight up stance and low hands would spell disaster once Jack caught up to him and Jack wouldn't give him any breathing room. Dempsey in 5 or 6 rounds.

Dempsey by ko, the speed in which Dempsey gets into range would have Corbett running for his life, but Jack was fast on his feet too. Dempsey shoulders him into a corner and rips his stomach out around the 6th rd .

I think around 5 or 6th round KO with one or two knockdowns before the stoppage

Corbett has the style to win, but maybe not the ability.

It would be similiar to Dempsey - Carpentier. Dempsey would be bobing and weaving and dealing with Corbett's movement but after a while Jack would have to land something and something else behind it and then I feel that Corbett although a great fighter would have to move and put offense asided to survive.

Dempsey on points or late KO, but this a prime Corbett so I say points.

I dont think the Dempsey that lost to Tunney wins a round against Corbett either (Though if he lands clean like he did against Tunney we probably wouldnt have any long count controversy).

I also think that Tunney was better than Tommy Gibbons and definitely Carpentier. Still, prime Dempsey should win and i do think he would overwhelm him reasonably early altough it is worth noting that quite a few people who saw both would not agree. Wills tunney might be a very interesting match up.

My thoughts exactly. I can't really see anything else but a stoppage win for Dempsey.

Fitz downed Corbett for the count with a body shot (albeit after becoming the beneficiary of a slow count inexplicably interrupted for a moment by George Siler). He was also dropped during the progress of the Jeffries rematch by a hook to the body, but one of his old friends was the timekeeper, and salvaged his effort by giving him one of the slowest counts on record while Jeff fumed, pounding his gloves together in frustration.

Granted, both defeats occurred after Corbett dissipated from drink following his usurpation of Sullivan, but he was still a conditioning fanatic in training, and it didn't save him in either match. Gentleman Jim too susceptible to the body to survive a Dempsey powerful enough to hop the huge Willard into the air with a short inside hook downstairs late in round three.

I agree. Gibbons' resume is far more impressive. Tunney beat the faded versions of the guys Gibbon's fought. I rank Gibbons higher than Tunney.
