I'm not sure there was need for any personal criticism Patrick. I did google Phil Austin and if that is you...how can you show your face in a Paul Briggs thread considering your part in the debacle? Briggs could have been killed!

No wonder Geale doesn't even acknowledge his IBO title anymore. The IBO broke their own rules to accomodate Mundine after he dogged the Geale rematch.

The IBO does whatever the hand that feeds them tells them to do.

I lost any respect for the IBO title since they have allowed Danny Green to hold the sham defences that he has.

Mr Briggs responded that that was insufficient time to prepare. Mr Manolikos then again contacted Mr Briggs, and suggested a date three months hence. Mr Briggs said that he responded that that would be an adequate time to enable him to have a warm*up bout before meeting Mr Green. He said that Mr Manolikos responded that if there were to be a warm*up bout, the fight with Mr Green was 'off'. Mr Briggs also said that he had also had a conversation with Mr Green in which he urged Mr Green to give him time to fully prepare, and to have a couple of warm*up fights, but Mr Green simply shook his head. He said that he responded to Mr Green that it was a joke and that they were not serious.

Mr Briggs said that he was subsequently contacted by the Green camp and told that the initial date for the fight, which had been about three months after he agreed to it, was to be brought forward. He expressed disbelief at that, but still considered that he was capable of adequate preparation and, based on his experience, knocking out his opponent early in the bout. As a result, Mr Briggs was ultimately left with six weeks to prepare for the fight. That resulted, he said, in the necessity to not overdo the training. He said that the strategy which he adopted was to endeavour to knock Mr Green out, and that fashioned the manner in which he went about his preparation

46 Mr Briggs explained that the fight was to be at cruiserweight, the cut off weight for which is 90 kilograms. The contract signed by Mr Green and Mr Briggs specified, however, that they would weigh in at no more than 84 kilograms. It was clear that Mr Briggs would have considerable difficulty in meeting that weight, and he ultimately failed to do so.

49 Mr Manolikos did not give evidence before the Tribunal, and does not appear to have been interviewed by the Verifact investigators. Mr Green was. His version of the arrangements for the fight differed in some respects from that of Mr Briggs. In particular, he differed as to the situation in relation to warm*up fights for Mr Briggs. Mr Green's version was that he thought warm*up fights by Mr Briggs would be good for his preparation, but Mr Briggs declined the fights on the basis that 'he can only get up to a big occasion'. That conflict was never put to Mr Briggs in cross-examination, and Mr Green's evidence suggests that most of the arrangements were made by Mr Manolikos with Mr Briggs, rather then by Mr Green personally. In those circumstances, we have no basis to disbelieve Mr Briggs' version of events.

50 Interestingly, in response to a proposition put to him by the investigators that Mr Briggs wanted a longer time to prepare, Mr Green said 'even if you'd been out of the sport for 10 years, you wouldn't need more than three months to prepare for a fight'. Mr Green said that he does a six week preparation for 12 round world title fights. Who to believe
And here's a interview with Green at midnight after the Briggs fight. Type'''Danny Green knocks Paul Briggs out in 29 seconds in IBO Cruiserweight title fight'' with this exclusive by Nick Walshaw of the Daily Telegraph.

DANNY Green has accused Paul Briggs of taking him to the lowest point in his boxing career - adamant there is "no way" a glancing left jab could've knocked out the brawler whose CV includes streetfighter, standover man and Muay Thai world champion.

In an exclusive interview with (if) The Daily Telegraph (nf), Green says he feels "confused, gutted and dirty" after needing just 29 seconds to ice Briggs - regarded among the toughest fighters in Australian boxing history - in their hyped bout at Challenge Stadium, Perth.

The decision came just hours after TAB Sportsbet suspended all betting on which round Briggs would be stopped - with the Gold Coast brawler firming considerably for a first round knockout to set alarm bells ringing.

"I hit him with a jab to the belly, with a jab to the top of the head," Green said, sitting in his Scarborough apartment with a group of close family and friends. "I glanced him. I watched his eyes goggle in his head and fall forward and I could not believe what I was seeing.
"Right now, I'm still in shock. I'm gutted, frustrated , confused. What just happened?''
Asked if the glancing left hand was enough to knock out a man who once fought Tomasz Adamek for two WBC light heavyweight titles, Green continued: "No. No.
"I could knock out a cow the way I'm punching and I prepared for a physical fight against a warrior like Briggsy. But tonight he didn't prove that. I think mentally he's got some issues to deal with.
"And as a father of two, like him, I've gotta be stronger, better, show compasion. But it shits me because I can't do anything to change what happened.
"I prepared for 12 rounds of war and had no idea that this was gunna happen. I'm devastated, mate. For the sport, for me personally, for people who paid to see the the fight . . . it's a shock."
But does Green regret anything he said during a heated post fight spray?
"No, because anyone with a heartbeat, an ounce of dash in them, woudn't regret saying it,'' he continues. "I'm disappointed at what's taken place and I can't control everything.
"But Paul was cleared physically, mentally, emotionally . . . 100% to fight. I can't overrule what a neurosurgeon says. What a doctor says. What a specialist says. What CAT scans or MRIs say.
"I expected Briggs to be a really tough opponent so what happened tonight was a shock. I'm just filthy mate. I feel dirty.
"I've sacrificed eight weeks of training and to have an end result like this, I can't apologise enough on behalf of him. As a man I've gotta show compassion. To a fellow man who I think is struggling."
So who should take responsibility for the result, Paul Briggs or Danny Green?
"Not me," Green continued. "I can't accept responsibility for this. I've gone from the most prestigious victory, some say the greatest victory in Australian boxing history in taking out Roy Jones Jnr to the lowest point in my career."
So you feel dudded? "Yeah, I feel dudded big time. But history shows I alway pop back up from a low point and I ain't gunna lay down now. I've gotta cop this, wear whatever comes my way. I've gotta wear some stuff that other people should be wearing too. It's cool. I'll deal with it.
So he says he sacrificed 8 weeks of training in the interview after the fight yet in the court case where Briggs won his appeal he said he normally does a 6 week training preparation. Why do you think he done 2 weeks extra training for the Briggs fight buster?
Must of been Briggsy's recent activity in big fights in the previous 3 years.
Danny''hey true blue''Green commited perjury. For shame Danny, for shame.
