He's a very good WW when he's motivated.

At one stage he looked like an unstoppable monster. Fitch and GSP totally dominated him though

I like him a lot but I wouldn't rate him all that highly, he's an exciting striker but has a lot of holes in his game.

His résumé overall seems to get less impressive every day but the way he outclassed Koscheck will always hold merit.

I always liked watching him. He has so much torque in those kicks.

The Kampmann fight pissed me off so much.

That fight epitomizes how insanely talented that division is.

Kampmann coming off a performance in which he showed obvious superiority over Rick Story who completely outworked Alves, then everybody (well mostly) picks Kampmann to pick Alves apart -- and then Alves pretty much puts on a clinic, out striking Kampann throughout the entire fight... Then gets caught by the warrior that is Kampmann.

The division just gets more interesting with every new contender.

Don't think so.

I knew he'd have the power advantage but didnt think Alves was gonna technically outclass him like he did. Maybe I was putting too much stock in Kampmann.

A little off subject, but I've been wanting to say this.

I've seen people claim that Rick Story caught Alves on a bad night when he beat him. I highly disagree. Story just outworked him. I found that entire performance quite inspiring.

And it's not like Alves didn't get the chance to do some serious damage on the feet either; Story gave him plenty of opportunities. Story wanted to make a statement and he definitely did so with those exciting exchanges that they shared.

But ya know, whatever, Alves is cool. Only 29, which is crazy.

Story fought the fight of his life being the underdog, a great result, maybe not a great performance tbh

How long is Alves down for?

Alves/Saffiedine, Alves/Lawlor, anyone?
