Default Liston vs Frazier

In my opinion, Liston in his prime would destroy Frazier, but what if Liston hadn't lost to Leotis Martin in 69 and had fought Frazier in 1970. After watching the Liston vs Wepner fight I thought Liston actually looked pretty good. If they had fought in 70 does Liston become heavy weight champion again?

Joe Frazier KOs Liston in 1970.

Smoke was at his peak. Liston still had his jab but I don't see him being able to hold of Frazier. Frazier was a much better puncher than Martin.

It would be an interesting fight for a few rounds Joe just had too much at that point.

God knows how old Sonny was by 1970.

I won't dignify this with an answer.

Much as he was the tallest man his height and the heaviest man his weight, I suspect he was also the oldest man his age.

Regardless of how old he was he had a lot of miles on him. Sonny lived a hard life and that takes a toll. He might of been 37 going on 50.

This is a classic 'post George foreman' post. George blew Joe away, so every other fighter in a hypothetical match up can take him for granted. The way some people regard Frazier I'm surprised he ever won the title at all.

Sonny Liston, prone to cutting corners in his training routine, at the very tail end of his career, somehow brings it to a peak ATG heavyweight champion. Whatever.

1970 Sonny Liston would not enjoy what he would get from Smoke, and it would really test his resolve to stay in there.

Joe frazier 1971 fotc was almost unbeatable. Ali said it. I think that frazier tko late or sd to prime liston. Liston newer fought something like frazier.

Sorry for my english.

Frazier ships too much to make me think he can get to Liston. You can't walk Liston down by taking his punches. The only way he does it, if he can be first and start to back Liston up and Liston has the straighter/longer punches to be first.

Liston picks apart and dispatches Frazier inside of 6 rounds in a very 1 sided contest

EDIT Frazier wins in 1970, I thought it was prime for prime, I still think it may be hard for Frazier early going

Any fight Frazier had with Liston would be hard but i see Frazier winning this by decision, pretty battered at the end as well i'd say

I'm in a minority, but I believe the best Frazier might well have beaten George Foreman in 1973.
I can't really see any Frazier beating a prime Foreman. The actual fight was too one sided to have anyway to envision a victory for Frazier who hadn't slipped massively by that stage, although he had slipped. A slow starting, come forward boxer is always going to get eaten up by Big George IMO. Foreman is a stylistic nightmare for Smokin' Joe, he bombs him out early 10 times out of 10 I'd say.
