If he manages to beat the crap out of Donaire on 4/13 ( which I think he will ), will he be considered the best ever ???

If somebody beats the crap out of the other, it will be Donaire. If Rigo wins it will be a close victory for him.

As an amateur I feel Rigondeaux is the best ever. While most boxers stay as amateurs because they wont be good pros, that can't be said for Rigo. The only reason Rigondeaux didn't turn pro early was because he's from Cuba and he had to defect from there to get a chance. There's no doubt in my mind if Rigondeaux had the chance, he would have turned pro after his first gold medal.

I didn't know Freddie Roach trained Rigondeaux. Here's his thoughts on Donaire vs. Rigo.

Quote:
Id like to see him fight the Cuban to be honest, Rigondeaux. Rigondeaux's one of the best fighters Ive ever trained technique-wise. Hes very skillful, hes a great counterpuncher, and I think those two guys together would be a great fight. Working the mitts and stuff, when Im trying to get shots in and show him his mistakes, seeing the openings and so forth, hes the only fighter in the world that Ive never hit once. Ive never caught him. One time I was going to go to the body after a right hand and he stuck his elbow in there and bruised my arm for a month. Ive never got to him in like six months of training, declared Roach."
Coming from Roach who has trained lots of champions like Pacquiao, that means alot. I have always thought of Rigondeaux as having a great defense and Roach further illustrates this.

If he's speaking about his amateur career then he has the right to say something like that.
In the pro's he's far from being a great, even if he wins (by KO) against Nonito.

There's a big gap in skill between guys like Pac, Khan and Chavez to Rigondeaux. Roach must have forgotten what it's like to be in the gym with a well schooled boxer.

I just keep flashing back to Rigo's fight with Robert Marroquin where he got hurt badly more than once and I just have this feeling that Donaire will hit him like he has never been hit before. I know Marroquin was a bigger fighter and all but it will be an interesting fight, can't wait.

Donaire waits for his opponent to throw a punch. He even wants them to hit him sometimes to think hes vulnerable so he can surprise them with his left hook. If you watch Donaire's big left hook against Montiel, you will see that Montiel actually check hooks him and hits Nonito before he gets hit flush with the huge left hook.

yeah, but to say he gets hit a lot because he's a counterpuncher is just
some of th best defensive boxers of all time were counterpunchers

Yeah but another thing is that people see Donaire's face marked up and they say he got punched alot. Some fighters just bruise more easily than others and Donaire's face bruises and swells up more than the average boxer. Same thing happened in the Alvarado-Rios fight where Alvarado hit Rios more but Rios just doesn't bruise or swell easily while Alvarado does.

Pacquiao sure because he's one of the all-time greats but not Khan and for sure not Chavez Jr.

Yeah but Marroquin even for as big as he is couldn't put Rigo down and we all saw Rigo drop Marroquin with that nice straight right.

Yeah he might have been talking about his amateur career which in its own right is the best I have ever seen.
