Sweet. I'm baffled how you had a draw.
I agree. You can argue that with the deductions and the knockdown, Randall beat Chavez as badly as Whitaker did, who I had winning 9-3.

7-5 in the rematch? There weren't that many rounds.

I had Randall up 7-5 or do but completely forgot about the point deductions. That'd make it what 115-111 or 110. Not that close really.

The knockdown in the first fight was one of the greatest thing I ever saw besides Tyson going down to Douglas in 1990. Chavez just relaxed that one moment and Randall released his punch.

Randall was a 15-1 underdog in that first fight. I thought Frankie stylewise was going to be tough to solve for Chavez. He had that big amateur career and he kept those hands up. Nice and high and brought those hands back high as well. Julio was murder on those drop their hands guys and guys that bring those hands back low. A guy simply cannot give Chavez that kind of window & he really chews that style up.

And Randall had some nice legs in there and threw nice combos. Wash rinse repeat kind of guy and I thought was worth a small play on even in a DKP mealticket fight.

Felt Chavez lost clearly in the first fight.

Anyone want to post a card so we can dissect how clear it was?

For what it is worth, here's my original card:

Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Frankie Randall I: 113-113 Draw
Randall: 1,3,5,8 and 11( 10-7 ).
Chavez: 2,4,5,7.9,10 and 12.
(When I scored it a second time I had it 114-113 Randall, scoring the second round even instead of giving it to Chavez)

Randall won a clear decision tee first fight. The second fght was like atching the WWE. Chavez stole the belt, and Don King was like Vince McMahon taking the belt away from one of his champions.

I can't watch the first fight and come the conclusion that Chavez won for me Randall won the first fight without a doubt

Randall won the first imo, no doubt.

The second can genuinely go either way. It's not so much the decision that's bad as the ending. A cut and an extra point to boot made it seem kinda opportunistic as if Chavez himself didnt feel he would ever get a better chance of snatching the victory. It's the doctors job to make the decision and he justifies it by saying Chavez gave no indication he wanted to continue.

The wbc should really have mandated a rubber stamp but they didnt and I although the ending was disappointing, there's no doubt in my mind that atleast 4 of the rounds can realistically be scored for Chavez.

Randall won the first fight; Randall also did a good job in selling at least a couple of those point deductions, if I remember correctly, when Chavez was coming on. Randall was a pro in every sense of the word, and the kd sealed it for him.
The second fight was close. People forget that Chavez did not make the accidental head-butt rule, nor was that the only fight in which it has been used.

Sweet is usually spot on with his scoring and I often see eye to eye with him... not here though which is unusual. I had Randall winning comforably in the first fight. The second, well, that is a whole other story. Close fight, if made to say, Randall won imo

I think Sweet's scoring on the first Chavez-Randall fight might be worse than someone scoring Chavez-Whitaker a draw. You got to mind, Randall had two points deducted for low blows and a knockdown against him. Even outwith those, he still won the fight.

Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Frankie Randall I: 113-113 Draw
Randall: 1,3,5,8 and 11( 10-7 ).
Chavez: 2,4,5,7.9,10 and 12.

Thats not a draw...7 rounds to 5 is 115-113. But Randall gets two points taken for low blows and an extra deducted for the kockdown.

113-112, Randall.
