Definitely!

Mike quit, and said he didn't want to disgrace and embarrass the sport anymore.

He was done at that point.

Danny Williams stopped him the year before.

The Ruiz version of Roy would easily have beaten him.

No one went a Tyson fight unscathed, not even the guys who beat him. (Ok maybe Seldon and Smith are the exceptions)

Some of the shots Tyson landed on Mcbride would knock Jones head into the crowd

Wake up, a glass jawed former MW against one of the hardest heavyweight punchers ever.
Im sorry but I just don't buy it.

Tysons backers didn't match him against Williams and McBride because they were second rate fighters, who happened to have the style and physical assets to beat him.

They matched him against them because they were the only kind of fighters he could still beat, where people would pay to watch.

If they had thought that he could beat a smaller name fighter, they would have jumped at the chance to match him against such a fighter, for a big money fight.

Williams and Mcbride were still pretty big guys who had a size advantage over Tyson, something Jones wouldnt have.

The uppercut Tyson hit Williams with in the first round sends Jones head to the moon.

I'm happy you specified ''fantasy fight'' in the title, otherwise I would have crapped my pants.

They were big but that was all they were, and they were picked as opponents because they were big and limited, and Tyson had more chance against that sort of fighter than he would against somebody small and genuinely good.

It would never have got near him.

Of course size matters, but when you start arguing that McBride prevails where Jones fails just because he is big, it is tantamount to arguing that size is the only thing that matters.

It would never have got near him.
If it did, it would be goodnight, sweet dreams.

Around this same time frame Jones was Kod by Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver, id say even an old shot Tyson has a chance of doing that. If Jones was so superman like during this time, why was he KTFO twice? back to back?

Whenever Tyson fought guys smaller than him, it normally didnt last long, Frazier, Spinks, Norris

Either way there's no way he'd win in my opinion.

However, don't exaggerate by saying 14 seconds. Roy had amazing speed of hand and foot, and that has to be respected.

There's no way Mike could have just walked over and knocked him out in 14 seconds, that's ridiculous. Roy wouldn't just have stood there waiting.

You're underestimating just how fast and elusive he was.
ok i give you 25

I am not sure that even that is a given.

It is easy to look fast and sharp against fighters like Williams, but for Jones it would be like fighting a punch drunk opponent.

Incidentaly, the Ruiz that Jones beat would also have taken this version of Tyson appart.

I think that his decision to drain back down to 175 played a role.

Forgett what happened when "Tyson" fought smaller opponents.

This empty shell is not Tyson.

So what if McBride had a size advantage? He wasn't a good fighter.

IF Mike had've landed that uppercut on Roy, then yes I agree. But that was a very big IF.

I can't envisage it. Not that quickly. Roy would have been on his toes, and Roy would trouble any heavy in history with his speed.

I think there's tons of heavies who would have beaten Roy, and Mike was definitely one of them. But you're saying that Mike could have just walked straight over and knocked him out.

Mike didn't knock out everyone in 25 seconds even when prime.

Tyson will land. He's not getting shut out. Not even against RJJ.

Mike really didn't play with smaller fighters. He tested their body well and came up. Usually most bigger guys took the body punches, but the head punches which the body punching created knocked them out eventually. The smaller guys fell with the body punches, or only one or two of the head punches. Roy would probably not last one or two rounds.

Mcbride tyson was genuinely done, he was winning the fight on the cards and got tiered, his heart was not in it and gave up. Only time he quit though, usually he would take his beating and go out like a man. But this tells you alot. Jones would have prob beaten him. Tysons killer instinct had long gone by then
