Yes, your description of "decent" is absolutely spot on.

Jack Dempsey deserves a shout.

Bob Foster too. How about Don Curry at 147.

Charley Burley
Kid Akeem Anifowoshe
Muhammad Ali (hardly featherfisted, and that power was borne of speed)

I was going to say Curry could easily figure prominently in the second tier at worst, his speed and power around the McCrory fight was brilliant.

De La Hoya would top my list easily, but doesn't have enough power to be considered IMO. Best of the last 30 years when it comes to combos, and nobody can hold a candle to him when it comes to variety.

Yep. If it was just combos alone he'd be up there.

Well when somebody asks for the best combo of speed and power they mean combination of the two, so i thought a fair assumption might be 50 - 50 no?

Robbi, i think you might be misinterpreting the thread, combo = combination (mix of speed and power) and combo's as you are thinking (a group of punches) isn't the meaning. Actual combination punching is not the meaning.

I suppose they may be considered equal - as you posted, and as the question could be interpreted.

There is a weird mathematical enigma I'm currently curious about regarding punching power. While I don't really expect to find an answer here, I've never cared for enigmas

I think you need to read my initial post again. I explained I would have included De La Hoya but he doesn't have enough power to be considered IMO. I did go slightly off the rails and never gave a list or an opinon strictly on criteria asked, but from reading my post thats fairly obvious.
