Default Squats

I tried squating the other day with only 30kgs at home. And it was feeling pretty uncomfortable on my back. Where abouts should I position the bar.
I know this isnt a bodybuilding forum but i though i may as well ask.
Any tips on squatting also?
thanks in advance

if you were using a bar try puttin a towel folded over to make it thicker between your back an the bar so it wont dig in as much.

The bar should be resting on your trapz with your hands as close to your body as possible. Also go ATG, it's better for your knees.

I would stay away from squats. Not only can they hurt your back ,but they are bad for the knees as well. There are better ways to condition your legs for boxing. Roadwork will do it. SO will skipping rope. Other machines like the leg extension machine, reverse leg calf machine, and seated leg press work well too.

Uhmm...anything done incorrectly is bad for you and FYI, Squats are king.

Boxing is mostly an anearobic sport, so squats would benefit the fighter with explosive strength.

According to many strength experts, squats are the single best strength exercise you can do.

Yes, done wrong, they will injure you. Done right, they will make your legs, trunk, and back MUCH stronger for any sport. Read Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe -- literally like 70 pages on how to squat the right way.

Squat deep and squat heavy 3x a week and you will have a new body in 6 months

Squats are by FAR the BEST compound movement and functional excercise that will give you huge gains right across the board and that includes upper body lower back the glutes the quads your abductors the core etc etc. It works a plethora of muscles at the same time. If you squat with CORRECT form and posture and work to your limits its a fact you will see noticeable gains in a matter of weeks.
