Default Brazilians vote for Fedor as GOAT...

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ], a big Brazilian website, conducted a month-long poll in 2012 asking who is the greatest MMA fighter of all time? You'd probably think that Brazilian fans would choose...well, a Brazilian fighter. Check out the results:
Fedor Emelianenko: 73%
Anderson Silva: 12%
Rodrigo Minotauro: 7%
Dan Henderson: 7%
Randy Couture: 1%
Landslide! They know know it!

Fedor is the man

For people in the know, Fedor is going down as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time

Was a chubby 200lber who routinely fought much bigger guys

haha it's not like it's even close. Fedor is easily the GOAT. Bones can overtake him though. But not for a long time.

I used to think that too. But lets be frank gustaffsen exposed bones. Prime fedor would have taken gustaffsen down.

Jomes is great but prime fedor? He was another level.

Fedor would have a few loses if he was Coming through the UFC ranks now....... What are two of his best wins?

He got beat up by bigfoot in his primes years of early 30's...... Not to mentioned KO'd by a much smaller and older man in Henderson

He wasn't in his prime you idiot....

He had been competing in MMA for nearly a decade, and wasn't moving with the times.... Fedor in an elite camp + modern training would have done him wonders, his management and lack of enthusiasm is what sent him on a downward spiral, not lack of skill...

Fedor competed in the golden age of MMA, which of course is falling fast thanks to the way the UFC has been handling things.... Fedors leftovers are still hanging in with the so called "new breed" of fighters. The only new Heavyweights that would have been remotely competitive in Fedors era are JDS and Cain, both of whom idolize Fedor and name him as the GOAT.

Was thinking about Anderson the other day, how incredibly lucky he was (or maybe unlucky)

In his UFC run, MW was the weakest division going, it was totally devoid of serious threats for someone as talented as Anderson

Now look at it -

Weidman
Roided Vitor
Machida
Mousassi
Jacare

Its stacked to the rafters

Would have been amazing to see Anderson fight these level of guys instead of feasting on the scrubs he did for the majority of his run

The division for most of his run was LHW - a division he could easily have competed in - but he chose not to challenge himself against

And that unwillingness will always leave him lower in the ATG standings than Emelianenko, who fought absolutely everyone, nearly always coming in the smaller man

Congratulations on the recent wedding Mr GOAT

Sadly, once they lose their invisibility then it is all down to how hindsight views their prime or losing end. Will history show Weidmann as a monster so no shame. Will history think that the Werdum loss was a legit loss or Fedor had already dipped. Time will tell.

PBF, Lennox Lewis, Klit Bros, Bhop
Couture, Liddell, A Silva

I'm positively surprised by the result of this poll, just because it shows it is possible to choose without being biased by nationalism.

I'll just add that one of the best things of Fedor was his mindset and behaviour: always focused, always respectful, always professional and composed.
And a fury in the oktagon.

jones is pretty young still he can learn alot more, yes gustaffsen fight exposed some limitations in him but heck randleman almost broke fedors next and a few inches either way he would have, before gustaffsen no one had come close to troubleing jones, i put it down to a bad night as the way he had been taking down world class contenders probably made him think hes invincible, takes a fight like that to get a guy refocused
