Default Fight in 2 weeks, been smoking

Iv got a bit of a predicament, iv maybe got my 3rd fight in 2 weeks time, but I haven't been training much and have been smoking :(

The season has only just started up again in the uk and in the off season I had a few personal problems and got back into smoking :/ 5-10 A day sometimes less.

I have been training, but only once maybe a week for about a month, just been so busy with other things

I have had 2 fights befor and lost very closely, I really don't wanna lose again anytime soon!!

I really love boxing but I don't want to go into this fight half hearted but I do wanna box and even if I do lose it will get my ass in gear!!! And the show im boxing on my teammates are all boxing on aswell! BRILL

Wat would you guys suggest? Just go for it? Or wait for a fight later on? Im just worried im be really unfit at the fight, im fit anyway but dunno how much its effected me? Will a week or two of training be enough, because im fairly fit anyway?

Cheers guys

The above two are correct.

You know you are not fight fit, you know you have stuff going on in your life which is going too effect the way you fight, and you know its not wise to fight when you are not on your A game.

Another loss will ruin your confidence, especially knowing you didn't go in 100%.

Drop out. Don't be scared to tell your trainer why (maybe don't tell him about the smoking) Train hard, and come back stronger and get your first win!

All the best my friend.

Quit smoking. There are two kinds of boxers, the kind who don't smoke and the kind who only smoke weed/cigars.

you say your fairly fit anyway if its only for three rounds then go for it,,lots of boxers smoke ,,if you look for excuses you will find them,,you have to be in it to win it....if you don't do it you will be gutted come fight night ,,,if you do box then you may get a win or you corner will look after you ,,

I also vote - to Go for it.

Just like you said, either you win (bonus) or you lose....and you'll be motivated to get your ass in gear for the next one. Failure is sometimes what drives people to be better.

I agree 100% with 123ko, don't make excuses, because there will ALWAYS be excuses.
Let's be honest, saying you smoked because of personal problems is kind of an excuse in itself, I mean let's be real here, nobody held a gun to your head. We all got personal problems, when it's fight time, you need to answer the call. If you're not in shape - that's on you.

People who drop out of fights because they're not in shape, likely do it more than once. And back out of other shit in life. Don't fall into that pattern. For myself (and many others) backing out is not an option. That's how everything else in life works.

The smoking bit aside, only training once a week is a big red flag showing lack of effort on your part. I'd back out and go at it again when you're fully dedicated... or don't do it at all. Do you think your opponent only trains once a week? Probably not. There's no compelling reason to fight other than machismo. Personally I'd rather be intelligent than manly - it's a game after all.
