Default Sullivan and Johnson

I had read a story some years back about John L. Sullivan and Jack Johnsons mutual dislike for one another while Johnson was champ, but how they went on to become friends. I don't remember it verbatim, but I'll rehash it what I remember. If anyone has heard of this or can fill in some details, it would vbe apreciated.

Johnson and Sullivan had been spewing venom towards one another since Johnson became champ.b Sullivan would taunt Jack by saying he wasn't worthy of the championship and Jack would respond with how he would have whipped Sullivan if they fought at the same time. Anyway....Sullivan was sent to interview Johnson before one of his fights but the two refused to speak to each other directly. Someone made the suggestion they pass notes back and forth. They agreed and soon each could be heard chuckling at the others responses. Thru these notes the hatred dissipated and the two developed a mutual respect and friendship.
Thats the jist of the story. Can anybody confirm or add anything? I've been looking, but Ihaven't been able to dig up anything else about that.
