He turned down the chance for Scott Harrison to face Juan Manuel Marquez when he was WBO champ so he clearly didnt think that one was worth the risk.

I think Harrison was offered 100,000 if I remember correctly and it cant have been enough to be worth the risk. Im not sure what sort of money Harrison would have been getting for the likes of Nedal Hussein or Victor Polo but it probably wasnt much less.

the best comment on the rbr on this fight was when i think scurla said after fraudley got tapped.

"******s face looks liks he has been sold a dodgy motor"

he has a good business plan making "hype" jobs (this dont mean that these guys are not as good as they are made out to be) then selling them off to the highest bidder.

people are commenting on how much of a **** ***** is. but to be honest he is a damn good huslter. it's when his fighters have too much talent

Really turned his career round that one. Should be good seeing Rhodes fight Woolcombe when it happens.

I think Ryan Rhodes will put Woolcombe away pretty smartly.

Hope so, because Gary has one of those faces you just wanna slap.

He's got a sweet left hook and don't really want to personally insult the fella but he has had an easy ride to the title IF he beats Rhodes then I'll consider him the champion but beating Marcus Portman for a vacant title when there are a string of more deserving challengers absolutely reeked of manufactured shite more akin to the WBU title then the historical Lonsdale belt especially in a division that has given us so many fantastic fights in recent years.

I also consider Ensley Bingham against Winky Wright a FW failing.... EB was on an excellent unbeaten streak in which he was severely knocking various decent fighters spark out. RW was considered the weak WBO champion who was plying his trade in france because he was an unpopuler champion. Hilariously Bingham (one of my fave fighters-ever) was the favourite and BN predicted a stoppage victory in about 7.

Actually no, the controversy over Lewis and Tyson and the WBC meant Bruno could've been fine fighting either guy. Lewis was the WBC #1 after beating Butler in May '95 after all...Suliaman insisted it should be Tyson, the rest of the WBC board said otherwise. So either would've done as a mandatory.

Bruno didn't get the McCall fight on the basis of having to fight Tyson next. It was more like, like Golota, King was always happy to return to a contender-type with a big fanbase. Since both McCall and Bruno were already under King's umbrella, it was a win-win situation for him since he'd have the winner on his books anyway.

Bruno did get more media coverage by taking on Tyson rather than Lewis in '96, though. Which made it all the more sad to see the way the fight went.
