Default Leonard Bundu - underrated and under the radar

Surprised no one ever talks about him on here.
Very good fighter, classy, regardless of him being old he seems very fit and hes got a few years at the top left, about time he got a world title shot and ditced the european belt that hes defended loads of times.

I for one think he'd beat big names in the USA like guys like Maidana, Porter, Alexander, Khan, Malignaggi.

Lot of good prospects coming up at welter you have Bundu, Thurman, Brook, Gavin, Zewski, Belaev, Kavialauskas

He is good, but probably won't ever be too well-known outside Italy and diehard circles...especially with time running out. Hell, look at Zsolt Erdei, who - four years the junior of Bundu now - made a concerted effort to make a splash in the US, signing with a moderately big American promoter and seeking out tough fights & TV dates - all for pretty much nothing. Diehards respect him, Boxrec warriors dismiss him as yet another protected European homer champ, and nobody else knows him despite having flirted with the "big time" near the end.

He's supposed to be fighting Gavin next, rumoured to be in July.

If he picks apart Gavin; and I think he will, he'll be in line to face the winner of Brook-Porter. And regardless of who wins, I think that's a winnable fight for Bundu, provided he doesn't get old overnight.

Even if he retired today, he will go down as having the GOAT European welterweight title reign.

Some others held the belt longer, but none had the consistency of quality in opposition during their reigns (with the exception of Jackiewicz, whose reign was half the length).

I may have spoken too soon, then. If he pulls all that off before riding into the sunset in his early forties, he may achieve what Erdei couldn't - crossover international mainstream appeal, if only just briefly.

I think Bundu - Zaveck is next...Bundu as champ and Zaveck as his mandatory for EC belt....

Ive noticed all Bundu threads on boxing forums get even no replies or very few replies and very few views. There's a lot of ignorance in boxing. Bundu is class, a top 10 welter, he should go over to america and beat some of those frauds up. He seems to be still in his prime to me, is athleticism and stamina indicates I reckon he still has 3 or 4 years left. Hopefully he gets his chance he deserves.

Bundu defends his European title against Frankie Gavin on August 1st in Wolverhampton.

Very hard fight for Bundu.

Yeah it's a good fight, but I think Gavin's feet will be too fast and he'll tire Bundu out, make him miss then make him pay.

Bundu's D is on point, too, though...and he's an accurate puncher. Good fight either way.
