You got it Chuck!
The much forgotten great WW champ Jack Britton had 344 bouts in his career, and his journeyman son Bobby Britton had105 fights from 1931
to 1947 for a grand total of 449 fights...

Only a short time ago, I learned that Jack Britton had a son who had quite a few bouts as a professional boxer.

Yesterday, I found Jack and his family in the 1925 New York State Census and the 1930 U.S. Census on the Ancestry.com website. They were living in Yonkers, New York at the the time.

I was taking a look at Bobby Britton's boxing record on BoxRec and found that something doesn't seem right. Did he actually have his first professional bouts at the age of about 12 or 13 years old during 1931?

Your perceptive C. If Bobby Britton was born in 1919, and had his first
pro bout in 1931, he would have been TWELVE years old, highly unlikely...
And Jack Britton who was born in 1885, would have been 36 years old when his son Bobby was born...Something doesn't add up !

The fact that Bobby Britton was but 12 years old when he had his first bout in 1931, along with the father Jack Britton ,was in his mid thirties when
Bobby was born is highly suspicious. I'll try to check on this...

While checking various records on Ancestry.com, I have found that Robert Breslin/Britton was born April 23, 1918 and died on November 25, 1987. I found him living with his parents and siblings in Yonkers, New York during 1925 (according to the New York State Census) and 1930 (according to the U.S. Census). According to the 1940 United Census Records, Robert lived in Yonkers during 1935, earned $1,200 as professional boxer during 1939, and lived with his wife and two small daughters in a home which he owned in Miami, Florida during 1940. In all of the census records that I have seen, his last name was listed as Breslin.

According to one family tree record on Ancestry.com, Robert's full name was Robert Morton Breslin. The record also contained birth and death dates. But I could not find a Robert Breslin who was born on April 23, 1918 and died on November 25, 1987 in any death indexes or records. However, I found a Robert Britton who was born and died on the same respective dates on the Florida Death Index and the U.S., Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death Files. According to the veterans death files, a Robert Britton served in the U.S. Navy from October 22, 1942 to September 24, 1945.

According to various census records that I have seen, Jack Britton (William Breslin) was born about 1888. According to the World War I Draft Registration Cards records, one William James Breslin was born on October 14, 1887 in Clinton, New York. In addition to working as a "Boxer," he was living in New York City and had a wife and a child at the time.

According to the 1930 U.S. Census Records, one William J. Breslin, 42 years old, was living with his wife, three son, two daughters and widowed mother-in-law in Yonkers, New York. Breslin worked as a "Pugilist" in the "Boxing" industry and owned his home, which was valued at $25,000. His children (along with their ages) were William Jr., 13; Robert, 11; Elizabeth, 10; "Collien" (Colleen?), 6; and John, 5.

Great detective work Chuck. So if in 1930 Robert [Bobby] was 11 years old
and in July, !931 Bobby Britton had his first bout, winning a 4 rounder,
Bobby Britton had to be 12 years old...Impossible to believe it seems, but
what other explanation.?

While having a win-loss record which was far from being impressive, Bobby Britton was stopped only by Fritzie Zivic and Cocoa Kid in his recorded bouts. It appears that his father, Jack Britton, was training him much of the time.
