Ernie came along 30 years too early. Back then a tall heavyweight had to keep their weight down to keep up with faster classic sized heavyweights. Against slower heavyweights he could of sat down on his punches more and looked a lot better than he did in the 1960s. Put Ernie in the 1990s and he could have been talked about like Riddick Bowe was.

I mentioned that in a previous thread. Early Spring 62 and Sonny, of all people, is refereeing that fight in Houston (with no experience?) Could that be true? Jeez, I would think he would be concentrating on taking the title from Floyd a few months later. Liston, a referee??? Something smells here.
