Default On Amir Khans chin and heart

people keep saying khan hasnt got a chin, he's gonna be the next to get sparked, so i thought i'd make a thread about what 'I' thought about his chin and heart and see if anyone agrees.

amir khan has definetly shown us he has a helluva heart, when he fought limmond. and trust me you need heart to go to the olympics on your own, and fight against the best amatuer men in the world at the age of 17!!!

in his autobiography, amir mentions him getting tagged in one of of his amatuer fights against a senior, and his legs went, he went down. GOT UP, and finished the fight beautifully! that takes heart!

i think his chin is like a felix trinidad, he will probably have more than a few knock downs, but he'll come back and win. trinidad was knocked down alot early in his career, and then he'd comeback and stop em. similar to what happened to amir against limmond, only the knockdowns werent that brutal.

his chicken dance against craig watson in the amatuers was worrying! he got up and give watson a good hammering. this shows he has great recovery powers, something which is crucial in boxing.

to be fair, amir has never ever been stopped in 99 amatuer fights and 16 pro fights. anyone can wobble when they get tagged, even tua was stopped in the amatuers.

The problem Amir has with his chin is that ****** is going to extremes to keep him out of the ring with anyone with anything near a decent KO percentage.

Even if his chin isn't that bad, it is impossible to tell at this stage due to the level of puncher he has been in with. It just raises more questions than answers. He was in a bad way for a bit against Limond, a SF without a notable KO record. This too adds to the questions

Amir needs to fight a heavy handed opponent to get used to being hit and hurt. Because at this rate he is being fed soft punchers, even Earl whom is an average puncher at best was being billed as a big puncher(although that didnt matter in the fight!), and what happens when he gets in the ring after being spoon fed light punchers and gets hit off a guy who can punch? He will be wondering what the **** is going on!

Ali and Tyson were both stopped in the amateurs.... He hasn't got a solid chin by any means but I do think people are over critical due to FW super careful matchmaking. Avoiding Jon Thaxton and Romanov is inexcusible.

I can't stand Khan.

He attracts the same mindless idiots to the sport that Hatton does for some reason.

Aside from that, he seems arrogant, dismissive and never stops going on about the large asian fanbase at any ****ing venue he fights at.

The fact that his matchmaking is an example of ****** at his worst, even though I get the impression the guy wants to fight the best at world level right now due to his over inflated ego, makes him easier to dislike still.

As has already been said, the Thaxton fight really is a must at this point in his development.

I don't understand this idea that Amir Khan has loads of heart. He may well have, but we don't really know yet. Coming back to beat Limond after nearly getting stopped simply indicates that he can pull through a hairy moment against a light hitter at domestic level. How would he fare if he got dragged into deep water by one of the dangerous fighters out there?
As for his chin, it looks to me like Khan really dislikes taking punches. At some point he will have to duke it out with somebody tasty, yet won't even prepare himself with a fight against somebody like Jon Thaxton.

You should have been at the Enzo-Haye fight. It isn't specific boxers attracting idiots, its just when boxing gets 'mainstream'.

Good point.

Its not Khans fault I suppose.

Though I still don't like the arrogant little toss.

I hope Khan is having some tough sparring.

Unless he's having tough sparring with some punchers, he's not going to learn how to take REAL punishment. The feather fisted guys he's fighting at the moment are not teaching him anything.

Any idea who he does spar with?

(Naseem used to spar with heavyweights, I don't want Khan going that far as he may have his chin removed from the rest of his face)
