Power comes in different forms. A single crisp, clean, fast punch from a weaker fighter who knows how to effectively distribute his body weight can be just as damaging as a wild shot from a naturally stronger powerhouse. Less physically imposing guys don't necessarily have to rely on accumulation if they perfect the art of throwing.

Yes, the fighters that have no pop can do that but usually against a much weaker opposition, ala like Chris Byrd. When such a fighter meets somebody on the even level in terms of skills concerned, there is a very low probability that the fighter would be constantly succesfull with the placement of the shots.

Soto's very skilled, but his style is such that Guzman will be able to land clean on him enough to test his chin. Which I think is tough but not certified iron.

Same applies to Guzman, he gets hit plenty, and at least Soto has been Koing people quite consistently.

True. I'm not cemented one way or another on this fight. And either one deserves a shot at MP, so win-win situation from a fan perspective.

I understand you perfectly, and sometimes myfself don't care about the belts as well, but we have to be reallistic here. If Pac cares about the belt then he has to fight for that. It is not about what you and I or anybody else think.

If the fight between Soto and Guzman doesn't come off, then he will have just one option, and that is to fight JMM, but we know of the problems between GBP and Arum, and therefore that fight might never happen.

So, what is he going to do? Do you think that he won't fight Soto or Guzman because he will think that they don't deserve a shot/they haven't earned it?

Pac should fight all of them regardless, same goes for Soto, Guzman and JMM, they should fight each other too.

It is pathetic to see how many boxers don't fight other boxers for just stupid reasons.

If I were Pac, I would try my best to fight them all, either as a challenger or as a champ and clean the division.

I think it is safe to classify Pacman is one of the very few fighters that will fight anybody put in front of them. I also think he does not care much about the belts but the names he fights, and for that he gets the most respect at least from me.

i would love to see valero and guzman fight. it's 0-loss vs. a 0-loss fighters with similarly padded records. Both have faced only one credible opposition (credible simply means good, probably B+ fighters) in Mosqueda and Barrios for valero and guzman respectively. I think it is high time that the zero loss record should be tested just like what they did before, i.e; Azumah Nelson (13-0-0, yep his 13th prof fight) had to fight Salvador Sanchez.

I remember there was talks of this happening back in January, but Guzman's manager rejected it because it wasnt enough time for Guzman to prepare, and now Guzman has been inactive for awhile now blaming the security of a high profiled fight, but with this fight on the card the winner will clearly have to go against the winner of the Main event of Pac-Mab 2.

Soto vs. Guzman
Who do ya'll got?
Yeah buddy . . . a very good fight.

I'm picking Guzman on this if it happens. Soto got hurt by Bobpac who's not even half skilled or as fast as Guzman . . . and though Guzman has no power . . . I'm seing him getting a U.D.

It's Soto by K.O. or Guzman via U.D. I'm picking the latter.

update:

looks like the talks are getting more serious now

Now that Manny Pacquiao and Marco Antonio Barrera will meet in an HBO PPV rematch Oct. 6 at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay, it means junior lightweight titlist Joan Guzman and top contender Humberto Soto are out as possible opponents for either of them. But in the wake of the Top Rank-Golden Boy settlement, the sides are talking about matching Guzman and Soto this fall, either on the Oct. 6 card or on a separate show. A lot will depend on Soto's willingness to forego a mandatory shot against the winner of the Sept. 15 Marquez-Barrios title bout and fight Guzman for his version of the title instead.

so its in Soto's hand if he wants to chase Marquez for the WBC belt or Pacquiao with the WBA belt as well if he beats guzman.

I would go with Guzman for the simple fact that he is fast with both hands and feet, also very slick

Nothing bad can come of any of this.

I fucking love this division!
