Default What happens to the WBA Light Heavyweight Title now?

Now that Australian Danny Green has officially reired, what will happen to his old title? Hugo Garay & Roy Jones are no 1&2 in the WBA rankings, will they face off for the vacant title?

Winner of Calzaghe/Hopkins vs Jones would be the obvious big payday.

There are rumours that Garay will fight Kessler for the vacant title and thats why the Title is avalible.

If Jones Jnr gets the WBA then unifications with any other belt holder would be big.

Interesting but doesnt seem realistic, why would Kessler go out of his way to make 175 when he still does 18 comfortably and is favourite to rule the division?

I think we can see jones getting a title shot here.

Thats what the IBO did when Jones came back down to 75. They simply handed him the title. Its interesting as when ever Jones seems to fight there was always some strange org like the IBA or WBF who`s title just happened to be vacant.

I never understood why a fighter like Jones would actually pay to wear one of those pieces of trash. Jones had **** loads of belts at one point.

Well...the belt is vacated. The best ranked contenders who want to fight for it will fight for it. Kessler is currently ranked as No.1 contender at 168 with the WBA; he is not ranked at 175, and he'd have to be ranked at 175 to get a shot at the title; if he was ranked at 175, he would stop being ranked at 168 in the No.1 contender spot for a shot at Mundine. Kessler would have to ask them to rank him at 175...they might not rank him in the No 1 or 2 slot anyway...

...still, I cannot see why Kessler would not fight Mundine for the WBA instead of some nobody like Garay, for example...at 175.

Jones said himself he loves belts.Plus it looked dam good when all of them had to be carried into the ring. There was no question at all that he was the man at 75.

While I don't doubt for a second he was the man it was a shame he & DM never squared off.

True. But back the Darius never would have wanted it and Jones was going abroad to get jobbed again like he was in Korea.Jones was the big ticket not Darius.Darius Sven and Joe all sang from the same hymn sheet back then. Making easy money and comfortable defences.

I guess thats the reason he relinquished his WBA/IBF titles & kept that other belt.

Darius was interested in the slightest in defending against live american competition. He was loyal to the WBO and had no intention of leaving Germany to take on anyone that represnted a risk.

He still managed to hang around too long though.
