Being a two time olympic medalist? What the hell kind of accomplishment is that? Beating pussies like Tua, Ruddock, Klitschko, Morrison, Mason, Golata, Holyfield, Briggs? Who were those bums?
Nah, I dont think he totally sucked. Just a bit crap.

The real joke is Lennox turning in at number 3 or 4 on all the all-time heavyweight lists on ESB classic. That cracks me up.

Here is a scary thought.

What if Lewis had a better chin, even on a par with Joe Louis say.

Not only would he not have got caught out by guys like Ramhan but he would have been more willing to let go with the heavy artilery.

Whatever Jeffries carried over his shoulder for 9 miles, it certainly wasn't a full grown buck ( adult male ). I have hunted and have loaded deer into the back of a truck, and I can tell you they aren't light. It normally takes two guys to pick up and carry a large male, and carry it a short distance. People claim that Jeffries carried a deer for 9 miles by himself. I don't care how strong the man was, the deer he carried was probably a juvenile, or perhaps a small female.

I've always felt that of all the HW champs from say 1900 to 1960, Jack Dempsey was the one best suited to take on the modern giants. His bob and weave style, fast hands and power, particularly in the left hook would make him a dangerous opponent for any HW champ from Clay/Ali to Wlad K. He was harder to hit than both Louis and Marciano imo and had a very good chin also. In a head to head matchup against the likes of Lennox Lewis i'd give Dempsey a good chance to win though I still favor Lennox. Size DOES matter if you're good and let's face it, Lennox WAS good. Dempsey early but more than likely Lennox late.

Agreed,

he was a little shit. 6'5", 240 Lbs is tiny. Giants like Wlad, Vitali and Valuev would brutalize him.

I dont think his chin was bad.

He sometimes got hit solidly and then dropped his hands in a "you didn't hurt me" gesture and got hit again, like against Briggs and against Tucker at one point. Neither guy knocked him out.

Lewis practically invited Rahman to knock him out too, and this time the punch had the deired effect.

Lennox Lewis was no 250 pound will-o-the-wisp, protecting a "weak chin" with defensive genius.

Lewis's problems against McCall and Rahman were caused by defensive flaws and nonchalant neglect of defense, and the fact that he didn't recover quick enough to redress the mistake.

His punch resistance was actually pretty good, otherwise Bruno, Mercer, Holyfield, Vitali etc. (all of whom hit him multiple times) would have all knocked him out.

I've read that an adult male deer weighs about 300 pounds.
Some men ARE strong enough to carry that for miles.

I don't think you understand Sonny, ( respectfully )

Carrying a 300 Lb dead animal, is not like carrying a stack of steel weights on a barbell. Its very awkward. Sure, there are some men who can pick one up and carry it without the aid of others.
But 9 miles?

And while Jeffries was certainly a very strong fellow, he weighed around 220 when he was truly in good shape. Carrying something that weighs quite a bit more than yourself for that long of a distance is pretty hard to imagine.

Geoff Capes could possibly carry a deer 9 miles. Still, Ali TKO 2 Capes.

I actually think Lewis had a better chin than Louis, certainly it was more proven againdt 200lb plus men who packed a heavy punch. Recuprative powers: the edge goes to Louis.

It is completely illogical to pick Dempsey. A lot of these matchups are, which is why I stay out of commenting, so as not to offend.

You see, Lewis's offensive tools are a moot point. Dempsey possibly has the best head movement in the HW division.Ever.

If Dempsey gets clocked by a right hand bomb which he will at some stage he'll be on queer street. Also what about strength on the inside and the uppercut? Dempsey isn't getting inside without taking some heavy leather himself.
