I'm not too into the whole fight scene, but there are a few fighters i know and try my best to follow. One is Gomez, after seeing him on the Contender. After his last fight with Gatti, is he going to get more big fights? I heard some where that this fight will show if he is the real deal or not. Is there more out there for Gomez?

After getting booed during the ring walk, he seemed to win some of the crowd with his fighting. I liked that he called out Chazev Jr. I think that would be pretty entertaining, but Gomez would likely win. Chavez Jr is still too green. |

Gomez is a warrior. Not the most talented of the Contenders, but definitely has the most heart. Unlike the other Contenders, he actually won his "step-up" fight.. definitely more dangerous than his record indicates..

People were sleeping on Gomez but I saw this as an easy win and backed him at the sportsbook with a straight bet and the KO prop at better than +500. Check Gomez's record on boxrec.com. He's fought sturdy comp thus far and Gatti was clearly diminished which I knew going in. After fighting supermiddles like Peter Manfredo and Jesse Brinkley, Gatti wasn't going to overpower Gomez.

Gomez showed fighting heart . . . and that was a good victory.
A Gomez/JCC jR fight was mentioned months before . . . maybe now is the right time for that. Gomez needs to be busy and win some more big fights to stay in the limelight. |

i also had gomez winning before the fight happened. from his conteder showing i was interested in watching him fight. a lot of heart. and i dont think manfredo beatin pemberton was a step up fight really. pemberton being punch drunk already and totally open when throwing. gomez is probably the most impressive to come out of the contender show to date.

He's improved alot since the contender, and remember he was fighting middleweights in the contender. I think he can make some noise at 147. Good technical skills, and a warrior heart.
Oh Yah, and the kid's got balls to. The first fighter he calls out in the show, the supposedly most feared in the show, Peter Manfredo. |

Glad to see all the props for Alfonso. He is a much better fighter than people generally give him credit for. I picked him to beat Gatti, but I did not think he would be so dominate.
